running more than 3 days/week

Does anyone run more than the prescribed 3 days/week? I have a friend who runs every day and she's had such great success. I also wonder if it will help make my workouts a more regular part of my routine. I find that I have no problem doing my workout on regular days, but any day I have a meeting or activity in the evening after work, I have the hardest time building it in. I'm also just feeling really motivated and want to kick it up a notch. Anyone have experience with this?

When I was doing C25k, I ran only three days a week and never on back-to-back days. I usually run four days a week now. I think you're asking for an injury to run every day. If you do choose to run more often than three days/week, add in time very slowly. I waited to lose more weight before adding in another running day and my knees thanked me. Good luck!0

Thanks for the advice. Do people do different workouts on their off-running days? I'm just feeling like I want to build in some sort of daily workout activity.0

On my off-running days I either hop on my stationary bike while watching TV, or go to a Zumba class. Either way, I take it relatively easy on that activity, and pay attention to anything that's particularly stiff or sore from the day before. If everything feels good, I kick up the intensity, and if not, I ease up. I'm with you -- I feel better if I'm active every day, but I mix up the type of activity so the muscles that are developing for running get a break.0

I do a Jillian Michaels DVD at home if I'm having a hard time convincing myself to run outside in the cold. I attend a circuit class every week that I really enjoy. Couch to 5k really improved my cardio stamina and now I'm trying to add in more resistance training.
You might enjoy a group fitness class like spinning or zumba. I think finding something you like is really important.0 -
I am very lucky and my gym is in my office building. Since I am required to log out for an hour lunch everyday, I go to a class in the gym on Mon (cardio strength training), Wed (yoga), TH (different strength training) and Fri (zumba). I run on the treadmill on Tuesday. I run outside at home on the weekends, both days if I have time. During vacations and days off when I do not have access to the gym I run every other day and do some sort of workout video at home on the in between days.0

I'm currently on Week 9 Day 2 and I double each day. I do weight training 3 days a week followed by C25 K. In between weight training days I have cardio days where I do C25 K followed by 25 minutes of HIIT on an elliptical. I also do weighted ab work on cardio days.0

The idea of the program is to both avoid injury and build up your cardiovascular system. You possibly can run more than 3 times a week. But can you do it injury free and will it improve your cvs if you run more? The answer is likely "no", if you are asking the question, since you are likely a beginner and building up slowly is actually the best thing you can do. Your knees will thank you in the long run!0
