Happy New Year! Today is the first day for me too. cravings aren't too bad, but it has only been a day. I am usually ok through the first week. Glad you are here mecagney!

I will be checking this daily for support. Have a good evening!
  • Hey Jenyfur 1! I'll be checking back too! Feel free to ad me as a friend if you want! For me driving is going to be the worst! I chain smoke my whole hour drive to work! Maybe ill try wearing gloves? 19 hours so far! I got this!

Hi guys, congrats on becoming non-smokers! I quit 6 months ago and at times it has been hard but it truly is the best decision I have ever made. Previous quits I have said I would *try* and quit smoking. When I finally got serious, I didn't say *try*. I said I *was* quitting, and that was that.

I was a HUGE fan of smoking and driving. It is where I did most of my smoking. In order to get through the cravings while driving, I would roll my window down just like I did when I would smoke and take some deep, meaningful breaths. This seemed to get me through it. Remember, real cravings don't last long and nicotine will be out of your body in a matter of days. The tricky part is breaking the psychological part of the addiction.

So far I am 14 days 6 hours smokefree. I am using Chantix to help me quit. There are still times where I think I really really need that cigarette. But when I think that, I just let it ride for 5 minutes and the craving is gone. I get fewer and fewer of them each passing day.

That's great news, rduhlir! 2 weeks is awesome. Cravings will keep decreasing with time and do become less severe. However, I am 6 months out and still get a craving out of nowhere once in a while (like once every two weeks). They aren't intense like they were when I first quit, but it's still there. Learning to ride it out is key, since it only lasts a few minutes. Sounds like you are doing great!
