I got a BodyMedia Fit link and and FitBit One for Christmas and am trying to set them up. I'd like to have them link to MFP, but not sure where to start with calorie ranges and settings. I do have the accounts linked, I got that much figured out. But on here, I have 1800 cal as my goal. My BMF says 2275 and FitBit says 1542. I'm way confused!!
Anyone else do this and know how to help me? Any advice with one or both of them would be greatly appreciated:)
Thanks so much!

I'm just going to bump as I was about to ask a question regarding them too, soI'll jump in if its not too cheeky:bigsmile:
I'm looking at a fitbit of some type...zip, ultra, one....anyway I was looking at devices and it seems I would only be able to sync with my mac as my phone is 3gs(too old now:sad: and I have ipad2( only syncs with 3rd gen) is that what everyone else understands?
I love my gadgets even though they are apparently now "old school" in the apple world and would hate if I couldnt sync with my iphone & ipad as I'm never without them.
Thanks and I'll bump out now:blushing:0 -
No idea about Fitbit, but I have a BMF and if you are just setting it up it will choose some goal for you, but it's probably not the goal you end up with. I'd suggest wearing it for a couple of weeks to let it get used to you, then you can reset your goals. Mine started out with a goal of 2450 per day, and I only get that much on a heavy workout day or when I move all day at work. I just linked mine a week or so ago to MFP, and I will tell you that whatever it starts out with for the day, BMF will change throughout the day as you check in to readjust down to what you are ultimately going to burn (or what it projects you will burn) by midnight. It will overestimate--I have had my BMF since February and it still thinks I am going to move more at night than I do--but it will get closer to what you really burn it its estimates. For BMF, the goal only really matters if you want to see a check mark at the end of the day. It will tell you what you burn regardless of your goal.
I love my BMF--it made it almost easy for me to lose the last 23 lbs.--but it took some getting used to. I would recommend that you wear it every day and log your food religiously and it should work as well for you.
And in response about Apple products, I think that the current version of BMF syncs with iOS5 and iOS6 devices. I know there were some issues when iOS6 went online, but they have ironed most of those out. No idea about fitbit.0 -
I am considering purchasing a body media and would love any input?0

I will second the comment about waiting a few weeks for the BMF to get used to you. Mine also started at over 2,400 a day and now most days show about 2,100 even though I move more than I did when I first started using it. What I really like about it is that it doesn't readjust my calories on MFP like the FB did. That drove me bonkers. Love, love, love the BMF!0

Has it helped you lose? How much do you have left to lose? I'm trying to lose my last 10 lbs.0 -
Since I got it about 2.5 pounds (2 months now). I have lost a total of 32 in just over a year and have approximately 20 to go. It is slow but I am trying to do this in a way that I can sustain for good. I had been at a plateau for two months prior.0

I just looked at a progress report, so I could give you an accurate comparison, but I have some complicating factors that I'll include as well.
I started my journey here in mid-April (needing to lose around 93#), aiming to lose 2#/week. I was very close to my calorie goal probably 99% of the time, but by early July, I'd only lost 9.2 pounds (probably mainly to do with PCOS). I was feeling very deprived most of the time, and not seeing the progress I should've.
In early July, I got the BodyMedia FIT Link, joined EM2WL, started a 6 week metabolism reset, then in mid-August I started again but aimed for a 1#/week loss (and reduced my carb goal somewhat--nothing drastic). Since mid-August, I've lost 16 pounds, very much on track with my 1#/week goal.
The BMF started me off at at 2200ish projected burn, but most days, I end up with an upward adjustment of around 250-300. When I moved a couple of months ago, I had some insane burn days of nearly 4000, but I never would've believed it without the BMF showing me.
The BMF is especially helpful for people who really want to stay close to their goal. I think people without it are operating with a huge blindspot. It's also going to make it a whole lot easier when the time comes to switch to maintenance.
Costco currently has a good deal on it at around $120, including a full year's subscription. They can also be found at comparable prices on eBay, and I would only buy subscription renewals there ($20/yr vs. $7/mo).
I hope you find this helpful.0
