Holiday Brake - Where to pick back up?

So just before Christmas I finished W5/D2 and didn't get a chance to run since. I'm starting it back up this week and I can't decide if I should just repeat week 5 or go back to week 4. What do you guys think?

I'd say repeat W5D2, and if you need to slow one of the runs down to a walk, do it. If so, then repeat again till you're ready to move on, and if not, you're ready to move on! You'll probably surprise yourself -- I had to take a 10 day break earlier in the program when I was sick, and I was amazed at how easy the next day felt when I did it. I was expecting to be hugely tired and sore, but instead I felt energized and even went extra distance because it felt so good.

Let us know how it works out! I'm almost at the same point you are, btw. I do W4D2 tomorrow, and W5D1 on Saturday. :o)

    I would start W5D1.
I finished the program a couple of weeks before Christmas and have continued to run 30 min 3x a week the last time I ran was Christmas Eve morning. Today I went for a run and couldn't run for the entire 30 min. I was shocked at how quickly I lost my momentum. I will never miss a running day again, it's just to hard to get back!

Good plan! That's kinda was I was thinking too. I'm going to go for it and see what happens. Hopefully tonight after hubby gets home to watch my little one. I hate the winter! Too cold to run outside.. Especially with a baby.

I finished W9D3 this past weekend. Whenever I had to take a break for sickness or going away, I usually just went on to my next day. Where your next run in W5D3, the first straight run with no walk breaks, I would actually say do W5D2 and then go for day 3. You'll be surprised how not awful it really is. I actually enjoy running more now without the walk breaks. I'll be doing W1D3 of the
5k to 10k program on Saturday.

I know how you feel about the cold. It is 16 here today. I'll still go outside in the 30's. But no way in this deep freeze. Thank goodness my complex has a brand new fitness center with treadmills.

    Good luck!!

I've been toying with this, too. I haven't run since the second week of December -- I started getting some pretty bad knee and hip pain, and I've been holding off until I can get some proper, good running shoes (I'm suspecting that, and my Vitamin D levels are abysmally low, so they need to be treated). I left off trying to get through W5D1 (and that's when the pain started), so I'm going to pick up at W4D1, and go from there.

I take a vitamin D supplement daily. When I had my physical last month my doctor was thrilled that I am running outside to get a natural vitamoin D boost. Hopefully it will help you too.

I did the same and started back this week. I finished 2012 with W5D3, so started W6D1. In your case though, I'd go back to W5D1 or 2 just to get back into the rhythm before the dreaded day 3 ;)
