So I started reading this cookbook and the end of the first chapeter say, and I quote: "The Paleo diet is not a body building diet. If you want to pump up your muscles, this diet will not be beneficial to you. The principles of this diet are directly opposed to this diet... Weight lifting type exercises can not be maintained on the Paleo diet." Umm...what do you guys think about this?

that is bizarre. If you focus on enough protein, building muscle is easier than if you are ingesting crap food / poison.

The most simple way to think about paleo (in my mind) is that by eliminating the toxins (grains, legumes, sugar, alcohol etc) , your body is able to take in the actual nutrients from food. How can that be insufficient to promote muscle growth?

I am pretty much an ectomorph (although I was a fat one) and putting on muscle is difficult. I have found paleo with heavy protein to be my only angle and I have tried lots of eating methods.
