Whats your take on "less than 2%..."?

So this might be a total newbie question, but I just want to see what you all think.

I've noticed several brands of sausage, bacon, etc. have "less than 2% of sugar, spices, etc" listed on their ingredients list. So I'm asking the age-old question - Paleo or not Paleo?

(Yes I understand there are some items that are grey areas and most people tweak the paleo guidelines slightly to fit their own lifestyles, but I'm just curious what the general consensus is on this...)

It probably depends on what you feel comfortable with and how often you are eating it.

I found a brand of sugar free bacon at the local grocery store - I am sure it has a small amount of nitrates in it - but I am fine with that - I can get butchered bacon but that is usually over $10 a pack. Great for a splurge but not great on the pocketbook for everyday use
