New T2 friends

I am looking for supportive female friends who are T2 Diabetic....
I was diagnosed three years ago. My original A1c was over 12% and my last one in October was 5.9 (down from 6.5 four months prior). I have been working on my lifestyle change since August. Since the start, my physical signs of insulin resistance (dark line on neck, dark and crusty elbows and knees) have DISAPPEARED!!! No more curious questions about my skin!!! Other than my obvious weight loss, that is the most exciting physical sign of my healthy life change....

Hi! Feel free to add me! I was diagnosed in April (along with some other issues) and that is what caused me to change my life and find MUA. My A1C has dropped from 8.7 in March/April to 5.7 in October. I'm hoping to get it lower still.

I love MUA because I learn so much--I never knew that those skin issues were signs of insulin resistance. Very interesting.

Welcome! You can add me, too. I was diagnosed in September with an A1C of 10.5% Since, I have lost 43 pounds. I should get my new A1C soon, but I write my BGs in the notes section of my Food Diary, so I have a pretty good idea of where I'll be (I hope). I, too, had those skin problems on my knees, ankles, and elbows which no cream in the world ever helped. After I got my blood sugars under control, they just disappeared. In fact, so many issues I had had for years, such as insomnia, inability to lose weight.. they just seem to be correcting themselves. No one wishes for diabetes, but it answered and resolved many issues. Thankfully.

    Hi there

I got dx'd with DM2 on May 11, 2012 with an A1C of 6.9 I believe. In August it dropped to 6.5, think it was the same in November. I started here on June 7th, on Metformin 500 twice a day. Test once a day (insurance is crappy) 2 hrs after dinner and had one DM consult with an RD (insurance is crappy). Praying to get A1C under 6 as my MD stated could drop the meds then, but I'd love to be able to drop the diagnosis (a friends A1C was 5.6 and her MD wiped her diagnosis off)...took her 2 years. Hopefully can drop another 40 (plus) lbs and get my labs in order and get off other meds as well. (also have hypertension-2 meds, hyperlipidemia -2 meds)

Please add me. I have been diabetic for 25 years and for a good 17 of those years I was just diet control ( indeed early on I had lost 60 lbs, of which 20lbs have come back). Recently my A1C has gone up to 7.7 and I have decided to get control of this disease. You ladies are all inspirational with your weight loss and your lower A1C! I hope I can follow in your footsteps and achieve what you have.
  • Hey there, feel free to add me too. I have been diagnosed for a while but it is running away from me at the moment. It is great to read of all these people who have managed to lower their HbA1c. I take a lot of inspiration from what I have just read so thanks for sharing.

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my first child almost 24 years ago. I was able to control it with diet and exercise. When I was pregnant with my second child I began the diabetic diet right away and was able to avoid that diagnosis. As I aged I became borderline diabetic and was eventually put on medication but still not able to bring my A1C down below 7%. 5 months ago I started insulin. At my last check-up last month my A1C was below 6%! Now I'm on a mission to lose weight so that I can, hopefully reduce or eliminate the need for insulin and other medications. I just began tracking my food intake (today) and I'm hoping that will help.
