Why I ended up here - Consumer Reports.

Well that is a little deceiving of a title - but Consumer Reports rated several commercial and do-it-yourself dieting approaches. (that isn't the reason I ended up here)
As previously posted Myfitnesspal and paleo both scored basically 1st and 2nd place for popularity. (that is why)

Testament to this group is the combination of those two things to make a fantastic combination.

Great coverage letting the rest of the world we really aren't a bunch of wackos.

YAY FOR PRIMAL/PALEO AND MFP! I just read an article in the 'other' message boards where an uninformed someone claimed that you shouldn't eat butter when dieting because your body converts it straight to body fat... ugh! if only we could enlighten the world :D I usually try to avoid them, but I got sucked in.

PS - by avoid, I meant the other message boards.. not butter

Bwaa haa - yes I really try to avoid the "other" boards and add butter to everything else.

I try to lead through example only and only evangelize when asked. Here I am 1 year after starting and been able to sustain my weight. Those around me thought I was crazy and just now are saying, "ok, tell me more about this because you just ate a lb of bacon for dessert - how is that possible". It's fun seeing other people come around.

I saw that too! Gotta love some mainstream proof we aren't all wackos with high cholesterol lol

Butter turns straight to body fat eh? Well if it's on the internet, it has to be true  I love when my "conventional" dieting friends question my butter use. My asking them if they can name the ingredients in margarine usually shuts them up

Hello, all! I'm still getting the odd looks when people see my bacon and protein with veggies at lunch. They ask me what do I eat on a paleo diet and when I tell them REAL food like REAL butter and bacon and whole eggs....they look amazed and want me to tell them more.

When I mention that they can no longer have the processed bread, tortillas, or packaged foods...the no way can they handle. Only crazy people do that. No. Not crazy people.....crazy like a fox people.

I'll share how I ended up here. I'd never heard of a Primal/Paleo diet until I saw so many referring to it here on MFP. I started back on a very low carb diet last May to gain control of T2 diabetes. I heard about MFP in August from my doctor and joined. Reading and some personal discoveries led me to eliminate dairy (except butter) and soy from my diet the end of September. More reading led me to decreasing my protein and increasing my fat intake in order to get lower blood glucose readings at the end of November. So, by default, I am mostly eating a paleo diet. The only thing I eat that's not paleo "approved" is hummus and peanuts and other beans occasionally and some artificial sweetener.
