Primal/Paleo MUST SEE Documentary

Hey all paleo peeps!

Just wanted to drop in real quick and suggest a recent Documentary I watched. It's called, "The Perfect Human Diet" and it available on OnDemand (for those of you who have Optimum TV service) or I'm sure it's on Amazon.

It's about how the diet of human beings evolved and gives a really unique perspective on our modern diet. The most interesting part of the Documentry (in my opinion) was when they talked about how through the archeological record, we can see that the human brain has shrunk since the age of agriculture and it is the reason why most of us modern human beings must have our wisdom teeth pulled, the size of the post-agriculture human skull is simply not large enough to support our 'meat-eating' wisdom teeth.

It's incredibly interesting and a must see for all you paleo/primal fanatics!

Okay, just wanted to drop by and say that.

Cheers!

Wonderful... I was wondering why Food Inc, Vegucated, Forks Over Knives and crap like that was the only included sort of food documentary stuff included with any video services.

I watched "Hungry for Change" and I felt it had a paleo vibe to it. I really enjoyed it.

I bought that movie when it first came out. Quite a good bit of research really. When people tell me I should watch "forks over knives" I tell them I have.. and now they must watch my movie (^this) for being so holy. None of them have - too much work for a vegan to try to hear both sides.

ok, I was just goofing around there. I don't honestly pick on vegans. I think we have a lot in common. I actually have compared meals, and I think I eat more vegetables than they do.

Wah, I don't see it at Amazon (at least not the Canada Amazon). It's strange how this topic has been quite well researched (nutrition, biology, history, anthropology, agriculture etc) but no matter what, there's people who just can't believe that we've been lied to by governments (inc health "professionals"), NGOs, and corporations. I'm just finishing the Vegetarian Myth - a good eye opener about how eating grains is NOT saving the planet, and actually quite the opposite (but there are some problems with her summations near the end of the book- for example, polar bear "children" are not starving and other similar unsupported comments).

I'm just starting Good Calories, Bad Calories. My initial skim has me very excited because it is clearly well-researched (some anti-paleo MFPers don't seem to think so, I guess because they disagree so the info must be wrong). I have seen numerous references to the work of many anthropologists that is very relevant to determining what a healthy human diet is, yet they are ignored in current mainstream dietary recommendations. For some reason, whenever the healthier diet of Paleolithic people, and current existing hunter/gatherers, is pointed out, most people respond by arguing that our current longevity proves that a Paleolithic diet was/is sub-standard. That's just so illogical, I can't bear it. I suspect Dr. Price, and many others, would share my frustration if they were still around to see that not only have we not learned from their research, but profit-driven corporations are now almost fully in control of dictating what humans must grow and eat.

I have been doing a LOT of research recently on food politics and agriculture and what I have learned has me VERY convinced that what we are told is "healthy" (in all aspects of our lives) is almost completely politically and financially motivated. Sustainable local economies and good health are not good for business.

Sorry for the long, not really called for, reply. lol

  • Thanks, CAT! I just got it from Amazon and watched it. Very good. I wish I could get everyone I know to watch it... I feel so bad for my friends and family with health issues continuing to make bad food choices. *sigh*

I found it on Amazon, although it's not free for Prime. $3.99 for the rental. Thanks for the tip! I added it to my watchlist and I'll check it out sometime this week.
