What triggers us to eat?

I know a lot of my triggers ...
I feel sad, so I'm going to fix it with a bowl of ice-cream.
I'm happy, so I'm going to celebrate with a big combination plate in a Mexican food restaurant.
I'm nervous so I'm going to grab some potato chips because the hand to mouth action helps the nerves.
But I learned something interesting yesterday. I learned that I use eating as a way to avoid something I don't want to do.
I was cleaning out stuff, going through a box with a ton of papers that needed to be sorted, filed away or shredded. It was a boring task. And my back started to ache from the little bit of bending I was doing. Next thing I knew, I was thinking, "I need something to eat."
But I wasn't hungry! I've been eating every two to three hours, struggling to reach my TDEE by the end of the day. I had no appetite at all, and yet I was suddenly thinking about food. What an eye-opening revelation!
Anyone else found some surprising eating trends since they started this journey?

I eat because I'm bored, because it's there or because I'm on a break, therefore it's time to eat. Once you become conscious of it you can change it0
