Just wondered if the sleevers on here had excessive nausea after their surgery and how long it lasted? My husband had the sleeve surgery 10-19-2012 and still has nausea that has actually worsened to the point of that he can't smell or look at food. He does have acid reflux bad, which he never had before and just started taking Nexium and has a nausea patch they recently prescribed. They have tried so many diff drugs trying to get this under control. He is miserable and probably one of the few that regrets ever having the surgery. He had a large hernia repair at the same time and the surgeon recommended this surgery to avoid the hernia coming right back.

Any thought or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I want him to get back to normal life. He's lost 98 pounds since pre-op only because his intake consists of Popsicles and orange Gatorades. He says the protein shakes taste like chalk so I'm still trying to find one he likes. He was able to drink this in the beginning, but has trouble with them now. Last week the doctor said he may have to go back in the hospital to get iv fluids hooked up.

You could try the Syntrax Nectar brand as an alternative to the other protein shakes. They mix with water, aren't chalky, and I have used the lemonade and fruit punch flavors, and like them a lot.

I was RNY and never had nausea or reflux, so I can't help there. Best of luck.

Try either Protica Protein Candy or Isopure. The protein candy is 1 ounce and is kind of gummy. Isopure is a clear liquid of various colors. They are koolaid like. they taste pretty good. Not chalky at all. Good luck. So sorry that he is having all of this trouble

We went back to the sleeve surgeon today and our PCP and to make a long story shorter he diagnosed him with Thrush!! He was almost excited...lol He said that could definitely cause the nausea and loss of appetite and would explain how it got worse right after the last repair surgery. At least from what I'm reading because it can come on when your immune system is down and you've been on a lot of antibiotics. Anyway, he prescribed a med for the next 10 days. He also said to check his BP each morning and if his BP is not elevated to skip the med. He's lost so much weight now (104#) that he may not even need the med anymore. It was dropping down to 94/54 and getting very dizzy.
