I used insulin during my pregnancy and during the time I breastfed my baby (1 1/2 year) . Now I taking the pills again. My sugars levels where in the 80s with the insulin and before I was pregnant were in the 90s . Now that I taking the pills my sugars are in the 140s. I gained like 50 lbs after the baby was born. I am concerned that my body got used to the insulin or that my body is not producing enough insulin like before. I wonder if call my doctor he will increase the metformin or put me in the insulin again

What are you eating? I have observed that many insulin dependent T2 diabetics depend on the insulin to control the BG instead of controlling what they eat.0

You don't specify what pills you are on....met? insulin-stimulating drugs? While there's a possibility that your pancreas is not producing enough insulin, Laura is spot on to question food first and your diary isn't open.
There's a saying that "abs are made in the kitchen". Unfortunately, meds aren't able to do the heavy lifting for diabetics and glucose control is also made in the kitchen. Take a close look at the number of carbs you are consuming per meal.0 -
I wasn't controlling what I was eating . Now I am taking metformin. Today my sugar level was 126 fasting. I started exercising, drinking more water, and watching my carbs .0

It sounds like you're starting to do exactly what you need to with the water, exercise and carb-watching. The first many months, for me, were to watch myself like a hawk. Eat, test, exercise, test. It may be that your body is adjusting, it may be that the oral meds will require more "discipline" from you than you were used to. But it sounds like you're doing what you need to. Keep your doc. informed, and keep on! Mine would ask me to fax my numbers in weekly until they were pretty steadily back in normal range. If your doc. doesn't want that level of engagement, perhaps your dietician/nutritionist does? Most docs will refer you to one, which, as cliche as it sounds, really is helpful.

Did you develop gestational diabetes when pregnant or where you T2 before hand? While GD usually goes away, its a precursor to T2 later in life. Also, while GD usually goes away, in some cases it doesnt.0
