Am I doing it right?

First of all hi all and hope everyone is doing well.
I'm new to Dukan and generally I feel that this way of eating is great for me as I was diagnosed before Christmas with a wheat allergy, which is really easy to manage under Dukan. It's making me feel really healthy so far.
I started my attack phase on Monday and it feels like it's going well so far but (and this sounds like a peculiar thing to say), I'm not sure I'm eating enough. I'm not hungry but I keep reading things about eating twice as much protein as you're used to.
I started at 14st 5 (201 pounds, as I know most people here are in the US) on Monday and was 14st 2 (198lbs) last night. I know a lot of that is water but it's great to see it go down. I also love the fact that the Dukan diet recognises that some allowances need to be made in target weight for age etc. I'd set my own target as 11 st (154lbs) and Dukan calculated my 'true weight' as needing to be 11st 5 (159lbs). Previously I've been told I should be aiming for 10st (140lbs). I've not been that since I was 18 and everyone used to comment then on how skinny I was and how my ribs stuck out (I'm 5ft 8). I'm sure as hell not going to look good at that weight as a 47 year old woman.
I am still using the journal for now and my stats for today from my tracker were-
Protein - 151g
Fat - 50g (more than half from the salmon I had for dinner, so if I'm reading right that's allowable fat?)
Net carbs - 35g (this was mostly from the crab sticks/surimi)
I've had 1200 calories. I have eaten my oatbran pancake (1 1/2 tbsp of bran). I will probably still have some yoghurt but am I eating enough protein?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Forbiddenfruit,
I can't answer your question as I too have only just started (Day 2 attack) but I had the same worry. My kcals we 1387 (I was aiming for 1200 but forgot the oatbran so made the galette)
I didn't even think to look at nutritional intake, though I do take the figures and cals lightly as they can be inputted by other members who may not be completely accurate. Just looked now though and it was as follows;
Fat 41g
Carbs 31
Protein 184
My diary looked like this;
B; 2 poached egg and 3 slices ham
L; Tuna and Salmon fishcakes (homemade with an egg) and 2 pickled gherkins
D; Curried mince with oat bran galette (made with garlic and coriander)
S; ham and chicken slices
D; 4 coffee and 1 tea (all decaf) made with 1/2pt skimmed milk, 750mls weak orange squash, 750ml diet coke.
Don't know if that helps you at all?

Hi Sara,
Thanks for replying (I'm Sarah btw lol)
My diary yesterday was-
Youngs - Seafood Stick, 12 stick
Lunch
Waitrose - Cooked, Peeled Indonesian King Prawn Tails With Chilli, Coriander & Lime Marinade, 1 container (140 gs ea.)
Dinner
Fisherman - Brown Shrimp, 1 container (90 gs ea.)
Tesco - Salmon Fillets, 175 g
Dukan Diet - Oat Bran Galette, Whole Egg, Total 0% Yoghurt,
Snacks
Tesco Finest* - Italian Bresaola, 1 container
Dalehead Foods - Wafer Thin Cross Bred Hampshire Ham, 130 g
Kara - Dairy Free Coconut Milk With Calcium, 300 ml
Fage - Total 0% Greek Yogurt With Blueberry, 150 grams
I added the yoghurt after I'd posted and my figures across the board came out fairly similar to yours. So either we're both doing it wrong or we're both on the right track lol.
You're being very adventurous with recipes. I work from home so I tend to eat lots of snacky bits when I feel hungry or get the urge for something. I'm assuming we don't have to eat as 'proper' meals if that doesn't work for us?0 -
Oh, and I had 1 1/2 litres of Highland Spring, 2 mugs of tea and one of coffee (the milk for the tea and coffee was the Kara coconut milk)0

Hi Sarah (lol)
It says in the book to eat as much as possible in attack so I'm not overly concerned about calories but logging on mfp still makes you think about them. I have the iDukan app for iPhone but it doesn't allow you to log foods.
I'm home at the minute as I have a bug, so can be a little creative but once I go back to work it will be much more difficult as I work 13 hour shifts often without meal breaks. My partner is loosely following the plan but only needs to lose a stone compared to my 3-4 stone so we sat and worked out a meal plan and shopping list. I've been using another site alongside this one called minimins which has a whole forum dedicated to Dukan with recipes and advice and google is always a good help.
Re the seafood sticks, I have read that we should limit to 8 per day, also ham slices (or any sliced meats) we need to be careful with, though I'm still not entirely sure why. That said i'm halfway through a gammon joint today :ohwell: The only thing I can assume is the salt in ham and the sugar/preservatives in chicken/ham slices.
I think there is also some discrepancies between the french plan and the UK/USA conversion. (From your food diary, I'm assuming you're in the UK? I am sure we can't go too far wrong though!0 -
you guys are awesome! I went back to 2 days of attack (day 1 today) after crappy eating during the holidays. I had lost 8 lbs in a matter of 15 days on dukan. I am sure I can do it.
Cheers!0 -
You can do it Shimmer! Especially if you have done it before.0
