At the risk of sounding like I am pandering to my admittedly emotional state...
I wanted to start a truly positive thread. The trajectory of my 2013 has changed considerably and I find myself searching for purpose, meaning and my authentic self.
Along the way everyone has read or heard something that has touched them deeply and that is thought- provoking and real.
I would love for you to share your insights..whether they be a quote, book, song lyric or other.
The following is a quote from someone I cannot get enough of lately..she studies shame and vulnerability..

This isn't a quote, but something that was very profound and life changing for me.......You can either choose to hold on to the pain of the past or let it go and open yourself up to the joy of the future. I didn't realize until I heard that, that I had been holding on to the pain of a situation for 9 years. Yes, 9 years. How pathetic!!! But once I heard it and realized I was making a choice, and not necessarily a conscious choice, I decided tomake a conscious change. And I wasn't going to let it weigh me down anymore. I still have rough days, but overall I feel so much more "free" if that makes sense.

Humility is my key to happiness. Being humble is not thinking you are less than others. It is also knowing that you are not BETTER than others as well.
I am me. I can be better and I could be worse. Each day I accept that I have faults and gifts. And so does everyone else. We are equal..just different. Once I realize that I am not better or worse than everyone else it takes so much pressure off of me, and the sadness of being less than goes away. Sure I have days when I have to remind myself of this..as I am not perfect now or will I ever be..THANK GOD
But it gives me a self awareness that gives me peace. 0 -

I'm not gorgeous. I don't have an amazing figure or a flat stomach. I'm far from being considered a model but, I'm me. most of my inspiration comes from religion. so, i won't quote any of it, but, it helps me a TON.
i do have to say that for 2013 i have chosen to be out there, make myself vulnerable, and have zero expectations. it might not sound like inspiration but it is. it came through thoughtful prayer.0 -
Footprints in the Sand:
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
