Burn higher than fitbit/HRM

Up to now I've been using a fitbit and a HRM for running. I am within my healthy weight range but cannot shift the excess fat.
I have just bought a BMF and yesterday was my first full day. My burn was 2500 which was much higher than my previous recorded burn of about 1900. Have others found this and has eating the extra calories led to weight loss. I'm aiming for a 500 cal deficit but I had 1100.

I've had the BMF for 2 years now and it's been extremely accurate for me. When I was losing, my (monthly) weight loss would be w/in .2 pounds of what my calorie deficit averaged (3500 deficit = 1 pound) and I've maintained my weight for over 1 1/2 years by keeping my calorie deficit in the 200 cals/day range (attribute that to my less vigilant food tracking). Tried to give up my BMF last year but.........missed seeing the numbers and knew that if I didn't see them that I wouldn't eat as many calories -- so I strapped it back on after 4 weeks. Really tired of the summer tan line though -- so thought I'd give the Fitbit a try.
Yesterday was my first day wearing both the Fitbit and BMF (wore the Fitbit on my bra). My Fitbit numbers were all lower than my BMF numbers by a noticeable amount. Really not that concerned about the activity and steps numbers cuz I just use them as a gauge to how busy/active my day is but...............the over 900 calorie difference (@ 6pm BMF said 2657 and Fitbit said 1731) was huge..
I'm hoping that the numbers will be closer today (I'll be wearing the Fitbit on my pants).0 -
As I understand it, the Fitbit is more of an estimation as it's a glorified pedometer. BMF is more accurate regarding calories burned. Like Lisa, my BMF was very accurate when I was losing (I lost an average of .8 lbs. per week trying to lose 1), but I have also found that I have to leave myself a small deficit to maintain, much of which I credit to recording my food here instead of on the BMF site--I entered most of my own foods in BMF so they are more accurate than this site, but I don't want to reenter them all here since I'm in maintenance and not trying to lose (well, I'd like to get rid of a pound or two I picked up over the holidays, but I'm training for a race, so not trying very hard to lose just yet).0
