Has anyone's sleep apnea improved with weight loss?

I didn't have sleep apnea before I put on weight. I am hoping that once I lose my weight that I will see improvement -- maybe even get rid of my CPAP. Has anyone else notice a difference?

Hiya,
I had a steady weight (which was only a little overweight) up until I started the CPAP treatment. Since starting it over three years ago I have put on more than 3 stone (42 pounds) This was partially because before CPAP I wasn't getting proper deep sleep for a long time and so was burning more calories during the night with all the tossing and turning e.t.c.
My specialist has told me that losing weight will mean I can set the CPAP at a lower pressure level, however he has made it clear that even if I were to hit target weight I will still always have sleep apnea.0 -
That is so the opposite of what I was hoping to hear! I didn't think about the possibility of burning calories in my sleep.:laugh:0
