'6 weeks to ...' challenges

i know paleo and primal methods don't advocate long, intense workout sessions, but are these challenges ok? my aim is to work up to 100 push ups, 200 sit ups and 200 squats in the 6 weeks. you work out for maybe an hour, 3 days a week for up to 6 weeks. and if i mange to get to the target points, is it reasonable to keep this up as a regular workout?
