Several Small Meals vs. 3 Normal Meals

I am curious how people eat. For YEARS I have been following the "eat several small meals a day" plan. I swear this is what ruined my blood sugar and turned me into a starving cookie monster every 2-3 hours and caused me to gain weight because I lost all track of how much I was actually eating.
I did an experiment this month and starting the No S diet (no sugar, no snacks, no seconds except for days starting with S....well, except for a *little* dark chocolate which I am unwilling to sacrifice!). I pretty much followed this especially focusing on having a large lunch and smaller bkfst and dinner (mainly b/c lunch is when I am really hungry - post-workout). I have lost about one pound a week and feel way less obsessed with food.
My question is, do you feel eating every 2-3 hours makes you more liable to fall into emotional eating? Because I do!
I thought I'd post about my experiment because eating every 4-5 hours instead has REALLY helped me. My blood sugar is more stable because I make sure my 3 meals are very healthy with protein, fat, good carbs from veggies, I don't have crap in the house - everything is there for a specific meal, and I don't think about what to eat for a snack because I don't snack unless I'm DYING of hunger/weakness (in which case I eat a piece of fruit). After a good meal, I really don't feel like snacking, and since I've cut out sugar, my blood sugar is so much more even.
Has anyone else tried this? I'm hoping I can keep it up long-term.
