Is there anything else you can try besides the pill? I did not do well emitionally when I was on the pill or the depo shots. My mood swings got worse.

as i say i have stopped the pill right away but that was over 2 weeks ago now! i am not so worried about the mood swings the household will have to deal it's all the extra weight that went on in a few weeks! and now no loosing too ! :noway:
  • I can't relate on the mood swings, but I would consult your doctor about the gain and the side effects you are experiencing. Maybe there is an alternative medication they can give you. If you are looking for birth control with hormones, try Mirena. If you are looking for the BC without, they do offer the Paraguard. Good luck!

Looking at your ticker, you have done an excellent job. Look at the big picture. You are close. What do you do for exercise? Maybe up your intensity??

Mood swings are common with rapid weight loss. your hormones are going wacky. It will get better. Hang in there.

I have been having the same issue with my BC. My mood swings are insane and I am having two periods a month.. I am waiting to meet with my OBGYN to look for an alternative, but I am not a fan of my options... they really need to make a pill for the men! As for the weight gain, girl you have shed so much, I believe you will do well to get those pounds off and meet your goal! I would revert to the pre-op liquid diet for a week and see if that doesnt help!

Those little devils (BC pills) were the culprit for my first major weight gain at 19-20.
Any other options your doc can provide???

I have an IUD and love it
  • I too have an IUD - going to switch from Mirena (hormones) to Paragaurd (sans hormones) because I've definitely noticed the mood difference. I know I'm kinda of new out of the gate AND I have an IUD but I'm definitely having multiple periods, stall in weight loss, during the bloat, etc. I'd definitely talk to your Gyn - especially since this is so important to you and it's causing stress and frustration. I have no doubt the loss will start again - unfortunately we can't control the when and where part. I'm sending lots of good vibes your way!!

I went back on the Depo shot this fall. I had to stop it before sleeve surgery due to my WLS saying I had to hormone free 3 month before surgery. I asked my GYN if getting the shot makes a person gain weight without the person actually overeating or eating the wrong things. She said the shot doesn't make you gain weight but it's what you consume that does. I was a little worried thinking I would slow down or gain after getting the shot but decided if I did I would look for something different the next time my shot was due. That was back in Sept 2012 and it didn't slow down or make me gain any weight. Everything effects people different though. Best thing would be to talk to GYN.
    Good luck!
