Beans told me to post this. Point any complaints to her. *nod*
My starting weight was 125.2kg on the 31st of March, 2011.
Between March and December, 2011 I lost exactly 20kg. During this time I was eating between 1200 and 1500 cals (plus my exercise cals).
In December, 2011 I went on holiday for three weeks. Taking a diet break during that time.
I came back from my holiday weighing 105kg. At the end of Feb, I had knee surgery and I ate at ‘ MFP maintenance’ to help with my recovery.
April til June I got down to 99.9kg.
In June, I got pregnant, but lost the baby and since then my weightloss has stalled, and has bounced around between a low of 99.7 and a high of 101.5.
I had been diagnosed with PCOS, however when I saw my OB/Gyn in July,2012 he told me that all my hormone levels are normal, and that I currently wouldn't be considered as someone with PCOS.
It’s not been all bad. Since June I have:
Come off my blood pressure medication, and am currently working to stay off it.
Moved from ‘Plus Sized Clothing’ and am now able to buy clothes in regular stores.
My squat has increased from 40kg to 100kg x 5.
My deadlift has increased from 20kg to 90kg x 4.
My OHP and Bench numbers have increased.
I log consistently, I do all of the cooking in our house, and weigh and measure my food – with the exception of the occasional lunch or take-out. I don’t have ‘cheat days’ however if we get take-out or go out for dinner, I try and log it as best I can, and I don’t beat myself up for it. I don’t have binges.
I’ve been eating, lifting, walking and (sometimes) running for this entire time.
Sara suggested I take a diet break in October, so I took two weeks off during that time, and two weeks off the week of Christmas and New Year.
I have tried eating at 1850 and not eating back my exercise calories. I didn’t like this method, because I found I wasn’t consistent enough with my exercise.
I dropped down to 1500 cals plus exercise cals for 4wks in November.
I have tried just logging a random 250cals for all my exercise.
I currently have my calories set to 1750 (my BMR? Maybe?) and log my exercise calories via endomondo for cardio and as 250cals for lifting. I have increased my cardio to include a walk most evenings.
I’m posting this today because I’ve got a doctor’s appointment tomorrow (to discuss my Blood pressure), so if you think I need to request blood tests I can.
It’s fair to say I have been under some stress.
TL;DR I lost lots of weight really fast, and now am struggling to lose any weight. Any suggestions?

I am not qualified to give you advice on this. But, amazing progress on your lifting and glad to hear where you are improving. Sorry to hear about the loss of your baby.
I hope you get good advice and see some more weight loss soon.0 -
How long have you been stalled?0
-
Have you ever had your RMR tested, where they hook you up to the breathing machine thing and measure your respiration to actually test your RMR?0

Since June/July 2012.
Around the same time as the m/c.0 -

No. Is that something I should talk to the Dr about organizing?0 -

I think it would be worthwhile to try and eliminate that variable.0 -

I agree it is something worthwhile asking about - it can't hurt.0 -

Thanks, that's a stolen baby.0 -
I'm taking a look at this as well, and discussing with Sara.0

I've continued logging and eating right and exercising for 6mths with no weightloss, I'm not expecting you to solve the problem in under an hour.0 -
How hungry are you at different calorie levels? Do you feel like you're on a deficit when the numbers say you are?0

When I was at 1200 - 1500 cals (to start with), my hair started falling out and I felt tired all the time. My Dr said that losing hair was also a symptom of PCOS so he couldn't say it had to do with my calorie intake... but he suspected it was.
I do have days when I feel like I could eat my arm, but they aren't as often as they used to be.... I don't typically feel really hungry except for when I wake up in the mornings.0 -
How tall are you?0

What test(s) did the doctor run to give the PCOS diagnosis?0

Here's a screen shot of my weightloss progress:
Sara, I'm 160cms or 63 inches -- I think that's 5'4 but I'm not sure.
Andeey -- both my husband and I had a whole bunch of bloodwork done ... something called a 'recurrent loss panel' by the OB/Gyn because of our history of m/c's. It includes Fasting Insulin etc.0 -
All the blood work I had in December was the usual, along with:
-Ovarian Profile (all the usual hormones)
-Cortisol
-DHEA Sulfate
-Pregnenolone
Those were all new for me and I specifically asked for tests to check on anything with hormones, stress, etc., so since you asked, you may want to mention those.
Also, have you have your Vitamin D tested? I live in Arizona, FFS, and when I went to the doctor a few years ago complaining of being tired and a few other things, he ran my Vit D and it was extremely low. I'm on a Vit D pill every day and get that tested every 6 months. Nothing to do with the weight loss stuff, but since you mentioned the tired thing...
PM me if you want more details about the tests above ... I'm sure Sara and Patrick are working on the numbers for you, so this is just my two cents.0 -
OK, so I may have one less person on my FL after this...
On looking at your diary, you have been eating at an average of about 2,200 gross calories for this month, and when I looked an November, you appear to have been averaging about 1,800 - 1,900, net, so a few hundred more gross.
So...as you have had some breaks in the last few months, we are recommending that you go to a static 1,700 calories (no eating back or exercise calories). Macros should be:
Protein: 130g - 30%
Fats: 77g - 40%
The balance where you wish. This will actually keep your carbs to a maximum of 128g, which should help as well is you may have a sensitivity to them due to your PCOS you had plus should help with hunger.
I would also recommend increasing your NEAT as much as possible.
See how you do for 4 weeks and then we can see if it makes sense to stay there or to tweak. Also, let us know if anything came out of your doctor's visit that may be pertinent.0 -
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
You can't count the start of this month, I was on holiday!
November you can count. LOL.
*kicks rocks*
OK. FINE.
You are on 4wks probation.

Oh, and thanks bunches. *makes kissy faces*0 -
Good luck and please keep us posted. I really think we are on the right track with these changes as long as you can adhere/perform on this intake.0
-
Just for the sake of having it out there... I was on holiday until the 15th of Jan, and had my cals set to maintenance until I went back to work.
The only thing I'm not happy about is not eating back my exercise cals, because last time I tried it didn't go well, but I will give it 4wks and keep you posted.0 -

Just saw my Dr.
He is thrilled with my progress ("Davena, you've lost more weight!") ... He thinks the 'slow down' of my loss may partially have something to do with lifting... "You are smaller, you clearly have less fat on your body. It IS possible you have built SOME muscle." ... And/or "are you sure you are counting the calories as closely as you did 20kgs ago?" ... And/or ... "Weight loss naturally slows down after a big loss. It WILL be harder to lose weight from here on in. Mix up your calories. Exercise one more day a week, move more!"
He saw absolutely no reason to draw bloods.
I am officially blood pressure medication free.0 -
