deli meats?

Hey everyone,
Thanks again for the support before, I still haven't gone 100% or anything. But I'm feeling really motivated to make better choices one meal at a time.
Today I had some meat wraps with cheese and stuff inside, instead of using a wrap which I feel good about. But I was using honey maple turkey from boars head which has some sugar added (unfortunate because I love that flavor, so!)
I'm wondering if you have brands/varieties of deli meats which you would recommend for primal living lunches. I'm looking for stuff that is free of added sugars if possible, and any of these nitrate things I hear about. It doesn't necessarily have to be all organic, grass-fed whatever, although if it is, even better!
Thanks to all y'all!!!

I buy Applegate Farms.0

I get mine from local farm shop butcher as they cure themselves and it's all grass fed. I'd ask your local butcher or cure/cook yourself its actually pretty easy0

Sounds like the bologna roll ups I used to have as a kid.
Slice of bologna, slice of cheese, mayo, roll it all up inside the bologna.
May need to try something like this with better meat this time around.0 -

Ooh I remember those, sounds amazing!
I guess I make an "adult" version of that with Applegate Herb turkey wrapped around a slice of avocado and some paleo mayo. Yum!

Ah, yes, what kid didn't add chips or Doritos or Fritos to their PBJ.
I wonder if some chopped nuts in the middle of the rollup would add some crunch.0 -

They make those veggie chips (although I'm not sure what kind of oil or veggies they use), and they're pretty good. Those could be tossed into the roll up.0 -
I know they're not Paleo, but my kids always bring non-GMO corn chips in their lunches.
They also sell sweet potato chips in a variety of flavors, which can be paleo depending on the ingredients list. I'd stay far away from those highly processed veggie chips. Just read the label...it's pretty scary.
I second the notion regarding Applegate meats and local butcher meats. Applegate was a proponent/contributor to the Prop 37 California Right to Know GMO Labeling campaign. They are very reputable company in how they conduct business.0 -
If you have to get deli meat and don't have many options available, you could do MUCH worse than boars head. A lot of their flavors don't have sugar added, like the Cajun smoked turkey or sundried tomato ham (which is really good). You can check their website to see what has sugar and what doesn't0

Some people like to use lettuce wraps. Load them up with all kinds of good stuff!0

It's not organic/grassfed/free range, but Wegman's makes their own lunchmeats: "just turkey" and "just roast beef." No added sugar, salt, etc, but they do tend to fall apart a little more than standard lunchmeats. They're not bad for meeting convenience, and what my husband and I can fit into the budget.
I think "Wegman's" grocery stores are a primarily mid-Atlantic chain? We live in western NY.0 -
I usually buy Applegate Farms or Hormel Natural Choice lunch meats. Hormel Natural Choice is sold in a lot of grocery store chains (like Target, HEB, etc.). Any brand that is uncured / nitrate-free is great for Primal.0
