Dammit... trying to write this made me realize that I'm probably not 100% over this guy. Sigh...

Best date was the second date... 2 days after the first date, but we couldn't wait to see each other again. First date was at a BBQ joint, watching a zydeco band play and drinking beer. Somewhere toward the end of the night, he asked if he could kiss me. I was so into him, I said yes, and it was pretty damn good. So yeah, we were motivated to see each other again.

For the second date, we decided to meet at a wine bar. We both had pre-existing dinner plans for the evening, so we met after. This is a great, funky little place in an old restored house. There are several little rooms w couches, comfy chairs, etc.
He showed up after me. After a few minutes, he said he had something for me but he'd left it in the car. I'm not usually a flower sort of girl, but somehow, I just knew that's what he'd gotten me.

Now, normally, flowers wouldn't really impress me, but... he pulled it off.

He knew I loved to mountain bike, so he went to a bike store and got some spare cogs, a link of bike chain, and an old bike tube out of the "scrap bin" and had the shop guys clean the stuff up for him w degreaser.
Then he took the stuff to a local florist and had her make a bouquet. He told her it had to be small and simple because I didn't seem like a flower kind of girl, and that it had to fit in a pint glass because we'd be at a bar and we'd need to be able to put it on the table. We talked over 2 beers each, and stayed for over three hours... everything just clicked (as it had the first night too).

Yeah... I'm not usually one for flowers, but I was so blown away by the thoughtfulness, attentiveness and planning of the whole thing that it totally swept me off my feet. After the wine bar, we ended up in his car making out like a couple of teenagers. It was silly but fun. I thought we really had something going. I think he thought the same thing, because he did several other really nice things like that over the course of the next month (we met on 5.DEC.2012).

Unfortunately, at new year's an old flame waltzed back into his life... one he apparently wasn't 100% over. Great. At first he tried to play it off like it didn't matter, but after about a week he told me he had to give it a try with her. Whatever. It didn't totally break my heart because it hadn't been that long, but it sure hurt nonetheless.

Still, I'll never forget those flowers! Probably the most romantic thing anyone's ever done for me.

And dammit, I still think of him pretty much everyday too... Sigh... wish I could get him to go away.
