New to group, new to Paleo-ish

Hi, I'm new to this group, I joined because I'm new to trying to go Paleo. I'm definitely far from being there yet but so far have cut out sugar (except for a couple auto-pilot slips), all grains, legumes and am trying to use organic and grass-fed when I can. I am having a hard time cutting out mayonnaise and dairy in the form of cheeses and cream for my coffee although I hope to have that cut out fairly soon.
I'm hoping that I can learn more about Paleo from this group as well as recipes, ways to replace dairy with other things that are paleo, and things that have helped other people make the switch.

welcome to the group! hope you have your club & loincloth ready to go :laugh:0

I also used to use light cream in my coffee, even half and half wasn't rich enough for me! I am now very happy with some almond milk in there. The coconut milks that I've tried have been to thin for me. Welcome and good luck!0

Welcome, raikay! Feel free to add me if you need Paleo friends Dairy is perfectly ok on the Primal diet. Cutting out the sugar, grains and legumes is the biggest step, and (I think) makes the biggest difference.0

No need to cut out mayonnaise. Proper mayo is completely paleo. The mass-produced stuff has some un-paleo stuff in it (soybean oil!).
You can always make your own or just say "screw it, I'm using Hellman's (the olive oil kind [which still has soybean oil in it], of course) anyway," which is actually exactly what I do.
Anyway, welcome to better living.0 -
Hi! Welcome! Feel free to add me, I track religiously and am on all the time.0

Thank you all for the welcome! You have some great ideas. I think I'll have to stock up on almond milk and maybe try the olive oil mayo until I can find a good recipe to try. I've been reading some of the sites in one of the other threads about the differences between Paleo and Primal and it seems I'm a bit more Primal currently mostly because of the dairy which makes me feel a bit less guilty about "cheating" until I'm ready to drop it.
I'd definitely love some friends that are doing Paleo/Primal for encouragement and help, especially if I'm struggling!0 -
Hey there! I'm sort of newish too! I'll add ya!0

welcome to the cave! It sounds like you are absolutely on the right track, I made the conscious decision when I started that Primal was right for me.. a life without cheese is not a life worth living IMO haha, but to each his (or her) own, and some people do need to cut it out due to intolerances.. but again, welcome! and feel free to add me, I'm always looking forward to new Primal/paleo friends0

Hi and welcome!
In the past year, I've been Primal, strict Paleo, started (but not finished) a few Whole30s, and did one round of Autoimmune Protocol (stricter than Whole30). I'm now back on the primal kick, because I love my dairy waaay too much.
This is a fantastic group that will help get you going. If you need help with the mayo recipe, I can send a link or two your way. Feel free to friend me. My diary is wide open too if you need ideas.0 -
The weird paleo/primal divide is weird. Just play with things and see what works for you.

Hi All
I have just ordered "the primal blueprint" after being on the waiting list for the book at my local library. My book will probably still take a couple of weeks to arrive, so I joined this group to lurk around. I am just about to start my fourth week of The New Rules of Lifting for women, and am really trying to cut out processed foods (although I do currently consume a protein shake on the days I lift to keep my protein intake up). I loved reading "Meet Staci, your new powerlifting super hero" on nerd fitness, which started me on to new rules, and paleo/primal eating.
I have done a bit of googling about doing a whole30 - but I am a bit confused about exactly what the rules are. I guess I just need to read the website a bit more thoroughly.
Will be lurking here for tips - and hoping that today is my first primal/paleo day (I don't eat a whole lot of dairy, but it might be nice to have as an option). Feel free to add me as a friend if you want.0 -
I've been eating mostly Primal for the last 3 weeks and I really am enjoying the quality of the food I eat and I haven't felt like I was deprived of anything. Feel free to add me anyone!0

I've been primal/paleo for the last 3 years. Lost 50lbs. Maintained for a while. Now i've amped it back up and I'm gonna lose another 20. I'm 5'6" and 171 (175 when i started using myfitnesspal again).
I'm gonna try and be rigorous is my posting of my foods...although sometimes it's hard to calculate the nutritional value of home cooked foods...which is what we "cave-people" do! Since processed food is lame. My diary is open/public. Anyway, any questions concerns, feel free to hit me up on here. I have tons of recipes/links/resources to share if anyone needs any.0 -
I'm new to Paleo also. Just completed my Whole30 and feel fantastic. Feel free to add me and we can help eachother out.0
