Hello all! I have several low-carb friends that have stalled in their weight loss. I myself have been doing alot better, have noticed significantly less cravings/hunger. Which in itself is huge. But, i am worried that its not going to be enough to lose weight on and I will get discouraged.

I would like to hear from people that have been thru stalls, and come through the other side, and lost. And especially from those that have lost and KEPT it off for some significant time.

I'm currently following Atkins and everyone reacts differently. You may or may not stall. I am 21 days in and while it's not a long time, I am having steady progress. At last weigh in ( over a week ago) I was down 11lbs and 2 inches around my hips, thighs, and waist. If you feel that something isn't working, change it . All bodies are different. Do what you need to do and don't let someone else's experience dictate yours.

I've only been low-carbing (very low carbing) for 4 and a half months, now. The body gets used to a certain amount of carbs (fascinating machine) and you have to change things up during a stall. Listen to your body and keep it guessing.

Every so often your body fights back and tries to hold on to every ounce of fat. Don't give up. Sooner or later the fat has to surrender. Also, 2 weeks without weight loss is not a stall. You can easily pick up and hold on to water weight for a couple of weeks, especially if it is that time of the month. One friend seems to only lose one week out of the month but that week can be a significant drop.

I'm doing my version of low carb/high protein Dukan/Atkins.

Week 1 of eating virtually nothing but meat, 9lbs lost.

Week 2 of eating as above, but adding a handful of roast peanuts every night while sorting out dinner. Stall, stall, stall.

Horrified and despondent I had 3 slices of pizza on Saturday, rice and semolina pudding on Sunday -smaller portions than normal.

Week 3 weigh-in 5lbs GAIN. being good so far this week, I have lost 3 of the extra pounds.

Check your salt intake - I'm going to. and keep up the good work. If you are not losing weight, often you will find that you are still losing inches.

Don't do what I did and throw a hissy fit and eat junk.

Keep reading the posts; it was reading someone else's post that alerted me to the salted peanuts.

Don't for get to drink your water.

Am I being a numpty , but how do you move your slider along to reflect weight loss?

It moves itself as you log your weight under "check-in" under your "MY HOME" tab.
