Knees

So, I don't know what I did, but my left knee has been killing me lately. I was doing squats yesterday, and I thought my knee would buckle under me.

My workout buddy, Em, suggested I be sure to wear my knee brace when I work out (especially since I'm doing C25K for cardio now), but I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions.

  • KT Tape. You can buy it online and at Sports Authority. It's expensive but works WONDERS! I swear. Puts my knee brace to shame. i had knee issues from a past injury and sometimes it hurts depending on weather, number of leg days, etc.

Also, double check your squat form, but you probably already know this! I KNOW that I have a tendency to pigeon toe lunges, so I have to make a conscious effort not to do that when doing the walking lunges.

Really? I've never heard of it, but I guess I have seen people at the gym wear it. Is there a specific brand you recommend? I found this one on Amazon, (http://www.amazon.com/Kinesio-Gold-Wave-Latex-Free-Water-Resistant/dp/B001VNKNPC/ref=sr_1_4?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1359649121&sr=1-4&keywords=kt+tape+knee), with mostly favorable reviews.

I'm concerned for my knee because bad knees run in my family, and if I can avoid injury at all, I'm a happy camper.
  • I recommend this one. http://www.amazon.com/KT-Synthetic-Elastic-Kinesiology-Therapeutic/dp/B006EPM74W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359657530&sr=8-1&keywords=KT+tape

It's sticky..doesn't come off easily and you can wear it for days.
shave your legs and don't use lotion;)

They're stretchy so they don't unstick easily.

You may have seen a lot of the olympic athletes wear them this past year. Kerri Walsh specifically had her shoulder wrapped with it, i believe.
  • Yeah I agree the KT tape is wonderful. Make sure you get the pro kind. It is more expensive but will last way longer. I used it lots when training for my marathon.

Went to the Chiro today. He said it's just a strain, and that I need to stretch my calves and ice it several times a day. At least it's nothing too serious. I think I'm going to take the week off of doing leg workouts. Gonna be a little behind, but I WILL finish LiveFit.

He also told me that I need to stretch more. That is something that I don't do. Does anyone have any stretches they do after LiveFit?
