Hi! I was just diagnosed a few weeks ago with type 2, and I already had hypertension, too.
Is there any vegs or fruit that you will tolerate? Like one or two? Start small and build up your tolerance (or taste buds)! Please feel free to add me! The food doesn't have to be boring either. Healthy food can be be tasty!!!!
We are not going to let diabetes OWN us. We are going to keep this in check and be well!0 -

Hi welcome to the T2 group! So happy you joined and I'm sad to learn of your recent stroke.
I've only been here a short while but everyone here is very knowledgeable and supportive.

Welcome dzlilo!
Everyone's different when it comes to the foods they eat and how their blood sugars reacts. Your right, the food we eat definitely does not have to be boring.
For me, there aren't many veggies I don't like. I stay away from white breads, pasta's, white rice and potatoes as these foods send my blood sugars up too high. The lower the carbs I intake the better my blood sugars are.
I eat to my glucose meter too. Testing before eating then again at 1 and 2hrs after eating my meals lets me know if that was a good food choice for me or not.
I like your positive attitude!
I'm sure someone else will come along to give you some good ideas and great advise.

Happy you joined! That's great you've done well lowering your BG numbers.
I'm new to MFP also but not new to diabetes. I was dx'd T2 in 1986 and joined MFP to improve my blood sugar numbers by making healthier eating choices and to be more physically active.

Please forgive my eratic posting behavior cuz I'm just learning this posting thing on message boards. God help facebook if I ever show up there!

Welcome to the group.
I like fruit in sugar-free jello, and you can probably find lots of smoothie recipes that use both fruits and vegetables. I've met some great people on MFP, and they've shared some terrific information. I hope you find the kind of support you need for your success.0 -
Has anyone tried acupuncture to bring down their blood pressure?0
-
I had some acupuncture recently, and my blood pressure went down at my last check up. But so did my A1c (5.5) and I have lost 55 lbs since last year, so I am not sure what to attribute it all to. But that plus the metformin seems to be doing the trick, so I guess I will stick with it!0
