This summer I was down to 183. Then this fall I gained 20 pounds back. I want to lose about 40 pounds. Well about a month ago, I had enough with my tight pants. 1st week I was down 3.6. Since that time I have basiscally stayed the same. Saturday is normally my weigh in day, but thought I would jump on today and see what is happening. I am UP 1.4.

I would like someone who knows what they are doing to look at my food and please help me. My BMR is 1576, TDEE is 2167, 1.5% loss is 1842 2% loss is 1733.

Thanks for any advice.

Well, I don't want to nitpick you too much. Some better choices are obvious. Just looking at Thursday, you are within your goals for the most part. If you cut sugar for a while your body will crave it less. Myself, I don't pay much attention to my weekly changes. taking a small cut from TDEE will grant slow weight loss anyway. But that's good.

I say keep logging, make the best food choices you can and be patient. Maybe only consider monthly weigh ins. That will take a lot of the normal weight fluctuations out of the equation.

And i'm no expert, But I wanted to help.

I am relatively new to EM2WL but I see that there are many days that you do not come close to your goal of 1733 and several where your net calories were below your BMR. There are also a couple of weeks in the past two months that you did not log food. You are not giving yourself a chance to succeed.

When I feel like I am not making progress, I remind myself that I did not put this extra fat on my body in two months. Mine crept up slowly in the past two decades by gaining and losing the same 5 (and gaining 6) pounds numerous times.

Consistency and perserverence is key. You can do it!

As was mentioned you need to be consistent with your eating, always eat your calories.. Try to eat more protein items and don't count exercise calories.

I looked back and there were a couple of days I didn't eat my calories. Can that make me gain. No I don't eat back my exercise calories.

I never looked at net calories. I guess I don't totally understand this, because I just was trying to eating between 1700 - 1800 calories.

Not eating what your body requires can halt weight loss.

My BMR is 1450. My daily goal (TDEE - 20%) is 1760. If I have a large calorie burn - say 400 - then my calorie net is 1360 which is under my BMR. I don't eat back those 400 exercise calories, but I do eat an extra 100 to keep my net calories over my BMR.

There are some great videos on the EM2WL website and the thumb tacked threads in this group that explain this better than I do. Once I looked at those video clips and had someone explain it to me, the lightbulb went on.

Thank you. I will start looking at that and watch the videos.
