Any of you women had an increase in yeast infection or bladder infections since being diagnosis with type 2 diabetes?
And if so, why?

Only before diagnosis.. that is, before I got my BGs under control. As soon as that happened, haven't had a problem at all.
Yeast infections occur when your blood sugar is uncontrolled .. it can be a sign of the body fighting another infection in the body. When your blood sugar is controlled, you will find a host of things disappear.. For me, I was instantly cured of a decade of insomnia, horrible eczema, dental issues, forgetfulness, dizziness, feeling hot all the time, etc. etc..0 -
High blood sugars increase the risk of yeast infection. Yeast loves sugar. Sugar makes it grow and multiply. The better control you have of your diabetes the less likely you are to have yeast infections.0

I had recurring bladder infections very month since my diagnosis in August. I have had very good control over my sugar with my most recent A1c of 5.5. I did some reading on blood sugar 101; and followed her recommendation of a longer course of antibiotics (10 days) . I had to do,it twice, with two different antibiotics, but I finally got rid of it in December. Good luck!0

It's true what everyone else has said. I have a bit of trouble with yeast infections and a scalp infection. Both of these are heaps worse if my blood sugar is high. High blood sugar gives these microorganisms more glucose to feed on so they multiply quickly.0

Unfortunately- this was the first sign for me.. but I left it for 2 months before I headed to the doc to be diagnosed with Type 2... I had nothing before that as I had a hysto at the age of 32... There not nice... But since diagnoses I have been really good no sign of it...0

Thanks to all. I now understand why I have fought so much with yeast infections. I haven't had one since I started with the metformin and seen my numbers come done. However, Ive had my first ever bladder infection. THough Im hurting and comfortable, its not nearly like the yeast infections. Those were driving me CRAZY!0
