Runners with knee arthritis

So what I was originally diagnosed with, patellofemoral syndrome, then meniscal tear turned out to be neither.. arthritis is the diagnose per arthroscopy. Any one else with knee arthritis and still running??? My doctor made it sound like my running days may be numbered...
Do you take supplements, if so what? Run barefoot or minimalist??? Chi running??
Any advice, thoughts appreciated... feeling a bit devastated at the concept of not being able to run at this point.
I know weight loss helps... I am about 10 from goal. I have always cross trained... I am willing to do/try anything!

There's a school of thought out there that running increases thigh muscle strength, which in turn will alleviate some knee pain. Not sure if this applies to arthritis, but I think you should talk to a doctor who knows something about running.0
