I had almost baught into this primal thing and then I saw their ad for Primal protein shakes... doesnt' that completely go against everything they say about not eating processed foods etc??? I am really trying to understand, but it seems like they are just trying to cash in at that point, either the book sales where not what they expected?
Not sure what to think now...

I've only been primal since Jan 1 but I just ignore all those 'primal' supplement ads/etc. I figured they are for the hard core fitness buffs that are following the primal blueprint.
I figure I am a long way from even being in a position to consider them and I doubt I ever would. I'm just doing this to get (and maintain) a healthy body.0 -

It's not a thing to buy into...read up on the science and follow what you decide is true. Most of us who following a hunter/gatherer-type diet (Paleo, Primal, etc) don't bother with things like protein shakes. Others have decided that the convenience of a quick shake-like meal using 'approved' ingredients outweighs the minor drawbacks.
Besides, you need to define what you mean by 'processed'. A protein shake bought from the market (like EAS, etc) is definitely a processed food because of the partial foods and added chemicals it uses. A shake made at home using whole ingredients is a recipe - just like mixing a salad dressing. The 'gray area' is if you add a protein powder. Most of us consider that a processed food. Others consider it a recipe, and usable.
Establish your convictions and eat appropriately. Only you can decide what is right to put into your body.0 -
If you dismiss everything when one person tries to make a buck off of it, you're going to have a lot of free time on your hands.0
