Hello! Since Aug. 2012 I've lost about 18 pounds on a LCD (approx. 1600 cals a day + exercise calories). The first 14 lbs. were lost from Aug to Nov. 2012. Then I took a break and didn't count calories at all over the holidays. My BMR is 1807 and my TDEE -20% is 1988 (TDEE with light activity is 2485).
My exercise routine for the winter is about 3-4 20-min. walking sessions on the treadmill a week. However, I just started lifting weights this weekend. I also bumped up my calories to 1988 this weekend too. Is this the right thing to do, or should I attempt a reset? I figured I kind of had a reset over the month of December. I started logging with MFP regularly about three weeks ago. I was eating around 1600 calories a day and dropped four pounds.
Maybe I should eat at 1988 and see how it goes? Or maybe since I started lifting weights I should recalculate my TDEE? Maybe to moderate activity? Any words of wisdom? Thanks!

Did you gain weight over the "reset" in Dec?
If not, sounds like your metabolism just raised, but not enough to allow a deficit.
Good routine though, keep at it.
Might try this to nail your activity better, and TDEE.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did gain a little bit. I fluctuated between a 2 and 5 pound gain. I did lose it quickly after starting to restrict my calories again. So I guess I actually lost 6-9 lbs. in January. By the way, I am a 5'8", 235, 41 y.o. female. I'll check out that spreadsheet. Thanks again.0

Yes, I think that's probably it. Does that count as a reset? I think I'll stick to ~1988 for now and see how it goes. Unless people think I should try for higher? I just started weight lifting. My arms are weak! They are still sore from a bicep workout on Sunday. My DH assures me that it's a good thing (I've never weight lifted in my entire life).0
