First off, this is a direct copy/paste from my blog. So, if we are friends I'll warn you they are the EXACT SAME. Save you some reading time!
Wow. I am so tired. It was so hard. Trying to keep going when I wanted to stop was the HARDEST. I started out at a walk of 3mph and a job of 5.5mph. After 2 rounds I had to cut my 3rd one short by 10 seconds. Then I took my jog down to 4.5-5mph for a few rounds and ultimately ended with a 2.0-2.5mph walk and a 4.5mph jog. I went 1.46miles in 25 min counting the cool down, 1.4mph w/o cooldown. That means I jogged 1/3 of 1.4miles! I kept thinking, what the Heck am I thinking?! Why am I doing this. Then some country song about being sexy came on and I was like, so my husband can think THIS! (I was listening to the music on the tv) But wow, quitting is def. the hardest thing to not do!I was covered in sweat when I got done. Tomorrow is my "rest day" I will probably just use the elliptical for 30 min.

Just think.....you did it! You've begun and you will do great.
I started at 6Km/hr (or 3.75 miles/hr). It's okay to go slow. The speed will come all by itself.
You did great and it only gets better from here (it's hard work, though). Find your pace.0 -
Yippee for you!!! Starting is the hardest thing. From here... the first step of each "run" is. I'll be honest, it was hard as hell for me the entire way through, week 1 day 1 to week 9 day 3. It all hurt, was all hard. BUT, week 9 was just as hard as week 1, not harder. By the time you get to each week, it's as hard as you can handle, but not more. I repeated a couple runs that I didn't make on first attempt. My 30 minutes gets me under 2.5 miles, which means I'm jogging at about 4.5. You may want to slow down. For me, it made all the difference for being able to find my breath. If you're breathing's good, you may be fine, but if you're huffing and puffing too much, hyperventilating, etc... slow down. I started at 5 and quit until someone told me to start at 4, which is what I did week 1-3.
Good luck! Starting is so hard, but you're now well on your way.0 -
I agree that 5.5 sounds way to fast for your jog. 4.5 is really aggressive too. Right now you're just building running muscles so the slower you go, the better it will be for you. What I did was try to run as slow as I was walking.
And I'll tell you a secret (I ask myself why I am doing this every time I run). It's before and after the runs that I can't believe how awesome they were.
But the main thing is that you DID IT! Starting is the #1 biggest milestone.0 -
Thanks guys!0

I'm on week 5, day 2 now. When I started I thought i could be Billy Badass with my jogging speed and quickly learned the hard way (the only way I ever learn) that I wasn't going to survive this program thinking like that. I backed down from 5.5 to 4.2 mph and found that I could comfortably do that. I tried to speed up during week 4. BAD mistake. Once I went back down to my 4.2 pace though I was ok. Pick a pace you're comfortable with and stick with it. You can do this. It does start to get easier, even as the time increases.0

I'm a big girl (291) starting out (W3D2) and I took the advice to slow it down. When I walk (just walk, not C25K), my normal pace is about 3 MPH. So for C25K, I slowed down to 2.5 for both parts. Today I tried going a little faster for the run, but pushed it back down. I would rather get used to the running at a slower rate, and then work on increasing my speed. I mean, this fat girl ran 3 minutes without stopping---TWICE!!! today! After I complete the entire program, I will start with W1D1 and pick a higher speed.0

I just did W1 D1 lastnight at the YMCA. I have to say I felt the same way. I can do a solid 45 mins. or more on an elliptical with no problem - but running is def alot HARDER! I can feel it in my legs and butt today. Not tooo sore that its uncomfortable but my body is def telling me that I shook things up yesterday :-)
Stick with it. The best advice I have received is that not everyone can go as fast as the training program suggests. If you have to do 2 weeks at the week 1 level then so be it. Move up when your comfortable but don't be afraid of change.
YOU MUST CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO BE BETTER!!!!
GOOD LUCK.........STICK WITH IT...........QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!0
