Length of Tracking Time Needed to Calculate TDEE?

Hi everyone,
I love this group, very commonsense suggestions and advice, I feel right at home here, thank you Sara and SideSteel for providing this place!
I am wondering about calculating my TDEE from my actual tracking. In the main "Calculating your TDEE" thread, Sara used an example of 10 weeks of tracking. Can one of you please talk about a minimum amount of time that I should use to do this calculation? I only have two weeks so far and my TDEE came out at 2,890, which felt pretty high. The online calculators came out lower, at about 2,500 if I remember right (I have all that crap written down at home). Working with exact numbers like this is new to me.
Another question is, would my TDEE change over time? Or would it only be my body's reaction as to how to 'fund' the TDEE that would change? I hope that question is clear.

The longer the better, I would suggest at least 8 weeks - but that excludes the first few weeks of dieting as there usually be 'one off' water weight being dropped during that time which will skew the numbers if included.
I would go with the lower number for now.
TDEE does change over time. As you lose weight it decreases, mainly due to a drop in your BMR (just by losing weight and due to some hormonal impact of dieting) plus often a drop in the energy expended to exercise (we adapt and therefore use less energy).0 -
Does this 'actual' calculation also work in reverse? so can you calculate your TDEE from x weeks of bulking and weight gained?0

I would also add the following:
Some common sense should be applied. If results are way off, I'd favor reacting to it after a shorter period of time.
As far as TDEE reducing over time, I'd also add NEAT downregulation as a proposed mechanism. Consciously trying to increase it is usually a very effective method for increasing TDEE.0 -

Yes, it does, as long as you take into account water weight fluctuations in that case also. Bulking though you probably want to make sure you keep an eye on it over shorter periods.0 -
