Yay, you!. My goal is a race under 40 minutes.

This race is well set up for a strong finish. You turn onto the final half mile or so and can see the the finish line and it's all downhill. Hoping to knock a few minutes off the time for the next one.

I was reading this thread again and came across the part where you had to get off the treadmill to use the restroom. The book "Run Like a Mother" has a whole chapter on peeing outside. There's a whole series of jokes on various websites about coming home with one sock. Apparently this issues is not as uncommon as I'd like it to be.

I had to laugh as I read this. He stepped of the treadmill. I immediately thought of him going behind the bench press machine...

Yesterday I ran W7D1. The first continuous run (20 minutes in my app). I didn't think I could make it but it turned out to be easier than I thought.

I'm am not worrying about speed. I don't care since this if the first time in my life I have ever run more than a mile..and that was in high school. For me, that was during the 1970s!

My next run, W7D2, is a repeat of W7D1. I very much looking forward to it.

Starting in W5, I began really paying attention to stretching before the run and after. I do a 5 min warm up walk, pause my C25K app, and do some dynamic stretches. When I'm done running, I do some static stretches. I am sure that this has helped with soreness the next day after every run since.

Let me just point out that peeing was not the issue. A man can pee just about anywhere, including behind the bench press machine.

The issue was far more urgent. As I said, glad I was near a bathroom or things could have gotten very, very ugly.

I usually don't stretch before running, but I do a 10 minute warmup as opposed to five. I always stretch afterwards and probably will incorporate a few more stretches as I start getting fitter, running faster and running longer.

Exactly. Men don't typically need to use TP for peeing, so if they come home with one sock...I don't even want to think about what happened.

Ya'll are scaring me lol... I start W4 on Wed. I am just comfortable enough in Week 3 that when the 3 min run comes up, I tell myself it's ok. I've done this before and I can do it again. It's that initial long run of a new week that I can't say that about and makes me worry about making it through.

I have a 5K on 6April which puts me at W4D2 being completed, but it's ok. I am just walking this 5K. My big one to worry about is the 10K in July!

Nareena - but you've done all of the initial longer runs of all the previous weeks and been ok, right? So the program knows what you are capable of, even if you don't.

So I finally was able to do a 30 minute run yesterday (about 12 minute/mile pace.) If I can get one in tomorrow and on Sunday I will call it week 9 and be done. Now it's time to start the 10k training program :)
