From Black Belt magazine...
It is with a great deal of sadness that we report that O-Sensei Keiko Fukuda passed away at the age of ninety nine this past Saturday. Professor Fukuda devoted nearly her entire life to learning and then teaching the purest form of Kodokan judo, personally taught to her by the founder of judo, Jigoro Kano. She was elevated to the highest rank of judo, 10th dan—the only woman in history to achieve that high honor. She continued to teach to her final days, and she will greatly be missed by all judoka throughout the world. The judo world has lost a living legend. On behalf of the USJA, we ask for all judoka to take a moment and reflect on her departure. Rest in peace, O-Sensei.

I read this on Facebook yesterday.
Being a female Judoka and a 10th Dan, was an outstanding accomplishment. May she RIP......0 -
