I'm new here :)

HI all!
I just joined the group and have been scanning some of your posts and have already found several helpful things!

My Dr. actually put me on an "anti-inflammatory" diet, which I have found to be closest to Paleo but with some added restrictions (no rice of any kind, only sweet potatoes, everything below 55 on the glycemic index). I have been doing it since Jan 2nd - except I fell of my so-called wagon for a week in there but noticed how much more pain I had that week, and it went away once I got back on my "diet".

It has been great for joint pain, I also have damage to my spinal cord so I have a lot of nerve path pain (like diabetics often have) and muscle twitches and spasms, as well as Crohn's - but eating this way has lessened them all - especially the Crohn's. If you look at a diet for Crohn's patient it is pretty much the opposite of a Paleo diet.

A great side effect is the weight loss too! Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself a bit...I think I'm going to go scan more posts!

  • Hi. I'm new to Paleo. Can I ask for your spasms. Has it helped? I have a lot of muscle pain and numbness since having my kids. So I'm hoping this can help ease some of that discomfort

I have fibromyalgia and get both severe nerve pain and muscle spasms. Since going mostly primal/paleo I can sleep without discomfort on nights that I've forgotten to take my meds (as long as it's not days in a row), I can exercise more than I've been able to in years without going in to spasms and I just don't hurt like I did even a month ago.
  • Welcome. On this group, you'll find a wide array of primal/paleo eaters with many different approaches and levels of "orthodoxy". There are bodies that range from from folks (like me) with 100+ lbs to shed to hardcore cross-fitters with <10% body fat.

    And it's all good!

It's great to hear that you are experiencing relief from your condition with your clean eating. You can "friend" me, if you like. My food diary and profile are wide open for all the world to see. :)

Hi welcome to the group. I have IBS, dairy allergy and arthritis. I started eating paleo as a way to be dairy free and I am amazed at how much better I feel. It can be challenging at times but it gets easier as you do it.
