I just finished my Shred for today (Level 1 - some modified) and my new HRM Watch says that I only burned 30 calories?!! This can't be right - right?! If so, what have I been busting my @$$ for?!
Sorry, just very frustrated! I just got the watch today and if all it's going to do is de-motivate me, I'm thinking of just returning it!

did you enter in your weight and height and vo2max levels for your HRM?
It needs as much information as it can get for the most accurate heart rate.
My HRM is a polar ft7 with chest strap and i enter in my new weight every time i lose 2-3 pounds and i will be recalculating my vo2max every time i lose 10 lbs. MFP said this workout should burn 230 calories and my HRM says i burn about 130. They are generally much more accurate and will give you better numbers to base your calories on!!!0 -
what is "vo2max"? It asked me for DOB, weight, height, sex. My husband bought me the SportLine S12 Anytouch. There's no chest strap. I know they are better, but right now I'm just too big for it to be comfortable working out. (I tried one before and it was so uncomfortable just walking around).
Thanks for the info!0 -
yours might not have vo2max. it is a statistic about your oxygen absortion, the higher it is the more "athletic" you are. olympic athletes are around 99... im at a 22 :P
it just helps the HRM get a more accurate read on your caloric expenditure.
i dont know much about the sportline brand or even about the arm band HRMs in general... maybe you could look up reviews for that model?0 -
Thanks for your help!!! I reread the manual, and the calorie tracker is listed under the "Pedometer" setting. I'm wondering if it's calorie ticker is linked to the pedometer reading (which doing the 30DS the pedometer wouldn't pick up much).
I'm going to try really hard not to let this get me down. Hopefully, I'll have better news to report tomorrow.
((After I read that it was a regarding Oxygen, I felt SO silly! I was reading it vo 2 max... not v o2 max... :-) ))0 -
dont let it get you down, for sure! even if you dont have an exact number for 30DS calorie burn, it cant hurt you, only help0

You burned more than that for sure. If you did most of the cardio you did burn more than that....It may not be reading very well since it is not the chest strap kind....don't let it get you down, it is most certainly off.0
