How do you choose?

So, I had Ribeye tonight. I entered it into MFP... looked funny, then I did a test. Which would you pick? UGH!!
Meat - Ribeye Steak, 4.1 oz - 123 calories; 17g protein
Ribeye Steak - Grilled (8 oz), 4.1 oz Cooked - 295 calories; 33g protein
Home Grilled - Seasoned Ribeye Steak, 4.1 oz - 55 calories (yea right!!); 7g protein (interestingly, if I multiply it by the 5 oz serving size it comes out right where the 295 calorie one lands!)
Calories range from 55 - 295; protein from 7-33. I'm thinking the higher number (calories and protein) would be correct. It just bites (pun intended) that we really do just have to guess! *end rant*
I guess my point is to be careful which one's you choose as they can vary drastically!

Great idea! I looked it up on other sites and saw 58 calories/oz.. Hmm...0

The first one definitely looks suspiciously low in calories. Ribeye is high in fat, so it's going to be more calorie dense per ounce. The others look close. The way I choose entries is to try and find the ones that would be from the USDA database (no asterisk in front of the description), and then if nothing matches I try to fine the ones with the most confirmations.0

The one I log is 77.5kcal an ounce (28.3g). IMO, better to log it raw over grilled - more accurate.0
