Which Low Carb Plan are you following?

Just curious as to which plan we are all following. I started out with the idea of Atkins induction, but after doing some research I've decided to do a basic ketogenic diet with a smidgen of intermittent fasting . I try to include a Bulletproof coffee every morning. The BC totally cuts hunger and helps me stay in a fasted state until after midday. I try to keep my carbs under 30 grams .

I'm just doing it my way, keeping my carbs at the barest minimum that I can. I've always done it that way and it helps and I lose weight. Atkins was too strict for me and I got weak each time, so was southbeach. but I use atkins bars and southbeach bars. southbeach bars use real sugar though.

First, thanks for talking about bulletproof coffee. I had to research what it was. Now I understand why several mornings I forget about breakfast until late and I will eat something very light...because some mornings I add a TBL of coconut oil and 1/2 & 1/2 in my decaf. I love the taste of the CO but not loving the oily topper. Now I understand why I can fast longer in the morning. Tonight I made my version of a BC and through it into the magic bullet...all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you...no more oil topper :D

I started out with The Metabolism Miracle. I learned the most about how eating low carbs work, however as a plan I needed more structure. So, I bought the Atkins book and followed that which was pretty much the same as the MM I first started with. I did that that for five mths and my life was chg'd.

Then I got burned out on tracking my food (4yrs) and thought, hey I can do this...yep I did for a mth, then slipped and slipped some more. I tried several times to restart and couldn't. Then I started from scratch and re-read both books and I was back on track...til Christmas ;)

This January I started up with a metabolic Dr. This is his plan for me..per day 1000 cal, 70 net cb, 80 pro. 70 net carb is my mental max. I still keep Atkins in my head and try for lower carbs. I do best at 25-30 NC a day. So, I can of have a combo plan for some wiggle room which is working for me at the moment. Later, well I might need to change it up.

One of the many things that convinced me that LC works for me was after LC for five mths, for about 4-5 weeks my metabolism was still working. But then the carbs started to throw me off balance and that was when I lost all I had achieved. However it was one of the best lessons, it proved what I had learned from all my research. Yeah, I like to learn the hard way ;) but I am learning :D

I guess I am doing a Atkins, South Beach, Keto diet mix. South Beach doesn't allow enough fat, because on the weekends I enjoy buffalo wings. I eat under 20 grams of carbs a day except the weekends I eat maybe 30 grams. I have a cheat day every two weeks on a Sunday, so that I can get right back on track Monday, sometimes it's a cheat weekend. I have been doing this for almost 6 months, so sometimes I go off the plan for a few days to re-charge it when I hit a plateau. I do not eat 5-6 small meals a day, I am not a snacker so that is too much eating. I eat maybe 2-3 meals a day, I stay under 1,200 calories. Drink about a gallon of water a day. I have lost 73lbs in 5 months. So it works for me! I also work out about 6 days a week. I just started heavy lifting so I may up my calories not carbs, more protein for post workout.

I'm just doing my own low carb diet. This past month I've been floundering......taking a break to let my body adjust to the 67 pounds I have lost. I'm going back to low carb tomorrow. I'm really curious about the bulletproof coffee. I've googled it, but not quite sure what all is in it. Do you use regular brewed coffee? Or will instant work? I saw a special bulletproof company that sells coffee grounds also. Where do you find grass fed butter? Or will regular butter work the same? Thanks.

its so easy to mess up. i live alone but family comes over and spoil things (not this time). i watch my granddaughter after school until 930 pm and she eats like a pig literally. i have my daughter be sure she has her own food 5 days a week because i am on a mission. the kid brings in chips, cheetos, cupcakes - i have laid down the law. no more, eat that crap in your own house.

I started out more Atkins, but then decided I wanted to eat more organic/not processed foods, so I've pretty much transitioned to Primal. I do consume dairy, but only organic. I try to avoid foods with ingredients I can't pronounce! I generally keep net carbs under 20-25 per day.

It seems most of us have taken various plans and personalized them I think ultimately that is what works best for us. I too failed at South Beach because it just did not have enough fat for me to function, while I had a friend who lost over 30lbs on it!

Gosh! I wish I could ban snacky things from my house like Bonnie! My daughter likes these multigrain snacks-which are normally healthy but not for a lowcarber- for some reason they are even more tempting for me than chocolate which is my husband's vice!
