Hello,
I have been overweight my whole life. My family always told me to stop eating, but because I didnt understand or had an idea about what it was about not eating I just kept my normal lifestyle and gradually my weight increased. It was until this past June 2012, at 28 years old that I decided I should do something about it. I did Insanity eating 1200 calories daily and lost 20 lbs. Then went on holidays and yeah.. I know.. Everything happened. I gained 5 lbs back. Now I am back on track again and I know this is the year I will accomplished a healthy body and healthy weight. I am doing Turbo Fire and overall moving to burn 500 calories daily. I am a vegetarian so I eat a lot of legumes and tofu to replace my protein.
I have read many things about calories, have tried calculating but I am somewhat confused about the whole thing. I would love some help calculating my calories, macros etc to continue my way to weight loss.
I understand many people may ask this, and it could be somewhat tiring for you guys, so if I should do something else let me know. Thank you guys!
I am copying and pasting the questions you suggested for calculations:
Things you should try to provide for specific intake questions:
1) What's your current intake of calories, on average?
Average: 1200-1300
2) What's your current average intake of protein, carbs, and fats, in grams?
It has varied looking for what I should do. Currently: Carbs 137g/ Fats 38g/ Protein 120g/
3) Do you use a food scale and measure everything?
Dont have a food scale, but make everything from scratch so I measure everything.
4) Do you track all of your intake, daily? (Everything?)
I used to. However since I have been a little lost with calculating the intake I have stopped, however I have been very careful with what I consume.
5) Do you take cheat days or days off?
One cheat meal a week.
6) How much weight have you lost so far?
16.6lbs
7) What is your activity like, both exercise and non-exercise?
Work at a desk job/ Exercise 6 days a week.
8) How long have you eaten at your previous amount and what happened in that time frame?
Ate 1200 calories for 4 months then the weight loss slowed down a bit but I continued losing.
9) What's your height, current weight and if you know it, bodyfat%?
5'1/2 in. Current weight 135.2lbs. Body fat%: 26.5%
10) If you're stalled, for how long and is it a complete stall (zero change in weight)?
I have not stalled. Just want to learn the correct intake I should be consuming.
My goal weight is 105lbs.
Also, please ensure that you have your diary open.
Diary opened.
Thank you so much!

Hi! Can you confirm
- you have lost 16lb in 4 months, correct?
- is the 1,200 - 1,300 gross or do you also eat exercise calories back (if so, please could you let us know what this averages out to)?
- do you log your cheat meal?
- do you do TurboFire 6 x a week?0 -
Thank you for responding!
I lost the 16 lbs from June 2012 to October 2012. Then went 5 back up for not taking care of myself.
I eat 1200 - 1300 calories and do not eat exercise calories back. My net is around 700-800.
I am currently doing Turbo fire 6 days a week.
I have not been very consistent with my logging since the month of December but I log in my meals and cheat meals most days.0 -
I can help you with your intake, but off the bat, you are significantly under-eating if you are netting that low. Here is a good read.

Also, have a read of this:

How much have you lost since the beginning of this year?0 -
I read the threads, thank you! I understand a little more about eating your exercise calories back if you are eating based on MFP. I am willing to eat what I should be eating.
This is what I have been doing:
I understand I should be eating 20% below my TDEE. My TDEE is 1672 and and after I subtract the 20% I should be eating 1337.6 daily. This is basically what I have in my logging currently. But I never knew the number that should be in the net box of MFP should be this one.
How many calories should I eat? If I burn 500 daily during exercise?
This year since I started exercise and eating clean only a month ago, I have lost 2 lbs. 2lbs in a month, which I am not upset about.
I really dont want to starve myself but do the best for my body.0 -
The TDEE you calculated of 1,672 - that is before exercise I assume?0
