6 years after my surgery

Hello my name is Manell and I had gastric bypass 6 years ago.
Over the past 2 years I have slowly been gaining weight. I don't own a scale (got rid of it after the surgery) so I'm only guessing at my current weight and guess it to be 200+ at my lowest weight I heard from a doctor I was 143lbs
I didnt have to try real hard to loose the weight, never exercised just limited my food to half a cup at each meal. It worked really well for a long time till I started fainting all the time. I went to the doctor and they said I was dying of malnutrition since I was only eating that 1/2 cup 2 or 3 times a day.
After that I began forcing myself to eat more and tried to stay with healthy choices and eating more frequently (lots more freq) It was difficult eating more believe or not but now I am back to having a weight problem and I'm horrified I might once again reach 300lbs! Whats weird is that most the time I eat 800-1000 calories a day, if I eat healthy. Of course I can go way over that if I eat crap which I don't do much. And now the doctors still tell me I have to eat MORE.
My mind is caught in a trap because I don't see how eating more is going to have me loose weight when eating more is what had me gain weight!! They tell me its because I don't eat enough so my body is holding every ounce of food thinking its still starving and wont release anything. Sssssoooo I guess the key is to start exercising and cause my body to begin using its stores of calories.
I have never been fond of exercising in the past but I'm finding I will do FuN stuff and I like to compete. So I got one of those stepcounter or pedometer things advertised on here. I should have that in a week or so and I think I will like the challenges and games on that, it should make it fun. I also have a horse and when the weather gets warm will go riding more. And I like to ride my bike, but once again.....not till the weather gets warm. I wont go to the gym bbbooorrrrnnniiiiiiiiinnnggg but I will walk a mall. Still looking for other ideas, I have thought about getting a xbox 360 kinnects (sp) that might be fun.
So thats my story, has anyone else had a similar story? Most of the people I saw on here in a quick glance are still pretty new in the journey (its a blast!! enjoy the life) But I would really like to connect with others who are out 5 years or more.

I would go back to the doctor or clinic that approved your surgery and talk to them about this. They may have more suggestions. I know the gym is boring, but the other ideas are great too. My mom loves doing videos on the Wii. The point is just to move around and be more active, even if it's for only a half hour a day. As you do it, you'll naturally go for longer and enjoy it more to the point that you will look forward to it.
I would shoot for 1200 healthy calories a day, with at least 60g of protein in those calories. With walking and living, the body needs at least 1200 calories to sustain a healthy life. If you become more active, add more greek yogurt or cottage cheese or something else nutritious to add 200 more calories a day (to equal 1400) and you will see your body will love you for it. It will use it to burn fuel, burn fat and build muscle.
Talk to your doctor, I know they will help out! Also, if it's a mental thing (I am right there with you sometimes!) they have the psychologist/counselor at those surgery clinics to help you get into the right mindset about eating enough. Hope everything goes ok and good luck to you! Stay healthy.0 -
I'm sorry you're struggling and I don't want to be unkind, but I'm going to be real. There is no way you are gaining that much weight again if your are only eating 800-1000 calories a day. No way. Not happening. Time to weigh, measure and track every single thing you consume. Best wishes!0

Hi. Manell. My name is Laura. I see you are in Humble. I lived there for many years and now live in Cypress. I am 4.5 years out from RNY. Do you weigh and measure your food? How many grams of protein and carbs do you eat a day? Have you seens a NUT?
I'm sorry you are having a tough time. Figure out what works for you and stick to it.0
