Medications?

Does anyone who suffers from binge eating use medication to help control their behavior? My friend who takes Zoloft for anxiety was telling me on the prescription details it said it could also be used for help with binge eating. I also heard other anti-depressants are prescribed sometimes. Does anyone take medications and if so do they help? When I'm in control of my eating habits I'm as happy as can be but when I lose control I get horribly depressed and feel like I don't even want to live anymore. At this point I'll try anything to get better and just curious if medication may be an option.

I took Topamax for a while, and while it helped curb my bingeing quite a bit, the cognitive side effects were hard to deal with and ultimately led to my stopping the medication. It's not for nothing that it's also known as Dopamax.

    Hi there!
I have a medication my doc gave me for whenever I need it. It's called Klonopin and is for anxiety, but she prescribed it to make me go to sleep so I will stop eating at night. The trouble is I often think I am okay, then I have eaten quite a bit before I get to take it and give it time to take effect:ohwell: It is also very addictive, so I try to use it very rarely.

I also take an ADHD medication - Vyvanse - that doesn't control my appetite like it does for some people, but it does help me organize and focus my thinking so I can manage my food much better. I should really take that everyday, but I don't like to take medicine, so I don't and actually, I have been having lots of trouble the past few days so tomorrow I will definitely get myself back on that. I guess I should take the other one in the early evening too and maybe I can get myself back into healthy eating... I have a great doctor who has known me for a long time. That helps a lot, because both of these drugs are hard to get prescriptions for.

Good luck to you! This is a baffling disorder in so many ways:grumble:
