I am totally new to this. I have just decided today to give this a try. I have figured out my BMR and TDEE. I have a bowflex that has a zillion years of dust on it. I also have some free weights.
SOOOO... can I eat anything? Does it have to be low carb and high protein? Am I good with eating whole grains and pasta in moderation? An occasional chocolate chip cookie??? lol I would like to have a game plan before I hit the grocery store :)

Have you read this post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/680246-tdee-bmr-what-they-are-and-what-to-do-with-them

From this post - I think what you are looking for is this:

"I make the following recommendations....Change the followiing in your MFP Goal settings under Custom:
    Carbs 40%
    Protein 30%
    Fat 30%
    Fiber 30
    Sodium 2500
Everything I have read thus far in my journey suggests those macronutrient ratios. It forces you to eat more protein which is important for maintaining and building muscle. Break up your food inake too, eating small meals during the course of the day helps keep the body burning calories. Feel free to check out my diary "AnewLucia", it is open to the public. ***I didn't think it was necessary to say this, but have been asked...eating clean should go without saying because we all are trying to achieve a heathly lifestyle in general. However, we all have "loves" and this is about "living", so I also believe all things in moderation. Lastly, if you are truly sticking to your numbers and ratios, there is no way to junk out...hence the reason I never stressed it before..so now it has been stressed! *** "

So I would suggest trying those macros for a kickoff.

I personally have PCOS and am attempting my first "Whole30" (http://whole9life.com/category/whole-30/) so I am for less carbs and more protein and fat as I can easily binge out on carbs.

Basically, you can eat whatever you want that fits in your calories! Those macros are a great place to start. Personally, I eat Paleo, so I have to tweak those a bit (more fat, less carbs). If you're looking for ways to get enough calories in, adding fat is a great way to up calories without filling you up a lot.

i don't think I will have a problem eating enough calories..lol I lost a bulk of my weight from stress during a divorce and I am slowly putting it back on. I was never good at sticking to a 1200 calorie diet but I was doing that for about a month and I was not happy. So I came across this and thought it would fit. I really don't like doing a lot of cardio and I enjoy lifting so I figured it was a good fit. I eat healthy but I don't cut out carbs or dairy so I was just curious if it was necessary to do that on this life style. Thanks :)
