Cheat meals?

Just curious how everyone handles special occasions such as birthdays or weddings? Do you occasionally allow yourself to have a treat? How often? I have allowed myself one cheat meal a week in the past. It just makes me feel so guilty though! Just curious if anyone has had trouble with motivation doing this? Thanks in advace...

The difference between my BMR (basal metabolic rate) and my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is so small (about 400 calories) that a cheat day or even a cheat meal could undo most if not all of the work I did all week.

So, instead, I do my best to meet my macros while staying within my calories. Now and then I'll allow myself a splurge. For me, a splurge means eating something I really want, so long as I stay within my calorie range, even if I don't come close to meeting my macros for the day.

I would like to think I will allow myself to have the rare bigger splurge -- such as on MY birthday or a really special meal out to a fancy restaurant (something I never do). But I would have to be very, very careful not to let it cause me to slide down that slippery slope back into gluttony.

You could cut extra 100 day before and after the event, that gives extra 200 on that day. Also means that within 48 hrs you still have balance.

On the day, also shove most of your calories into the event, light breakfast (or skip it) and lunch.

If normal exercise day, get it in first, that way extra food is just refilling glucose stores or being used for lifting repair.
If cardio, make it as intense as possible so more glucose to refill.
Don't even worry about trying to out exercise what's already been eaten, unless you can leave the party within 1 hr and go exercise, which usually doesn't work.
  • Thanks guys :O) I will eventually get this all worked out! I appreciate your input.
