Beginner strength training ideas?

Hi all!
I just started eating my TDEE last week, and I was quite nervous about it. All my life it has been drilled in my head, cut calories & exercise more. Well guess what, it wasn't working and I have tried everything. I figured I have done everything else and it hasn't worked, so might as well jump in with both feet. Now, I realize exactly what my body has been missing, FOOD! It is so nice not to worry about staying between 1200-1500 calories a day.
Anyway...I have seen several posts about strength training and lifting and once my current 6 week program is done (on Thursday), I would like to start doing it. I have used machines at the gym, but don't belong to one anymore; so my workouts will be done at home.
Does anyone have any (specific) suggestions for a beginner? I appreciate any and all ideas.
Thanks!

I picked up this book. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/new-rules-of-lifting-for-women-lou-schuler/1100373791?ean=9781583333396
A lot of the lifting requires gym equipment though.0 -

Some one posted this on an earlier topic. Very basic and only needs hand weights. He has others on there as well.0 -
There was a post a few pages back that had some good info too:

I've been doing this too and it's great. If you haven't lifted before make SURE you are learning proper form. Free weights are more effective, but it's also easier to hurt yourself if you don't use the proper form.0
