Does anyone know of any good resources for buying food and cooking food for one? I always wind up throwing something out because I didn't use it and I HATE cooking, but I know I can't live off raw food or junk. I honestly just cook out of necessity.

What about just freezing the excess portions? That way, you always have something on hand. Just defrost it and heat it up and you're ready to go! I would imagine it's challenging to cook for just one person!0

I always cook extra - whether I am just cooking supper for me, or cooking for the whole family.
We take leftovers for lunch the next day (not always what we had the night before, there are usually one or 2 "extra" tins so that we don't get sick of our meals). If I know that I have way more than I need, I put it into tupperware/freezer bags and label it. That way I don't have to cook on another night or my husband has something he can quickly pull out if I have dinner plans etc.
Your best bet though, to reduce waste, is to make a plan. Go through cookbooks, websites, whatever for your main meals. Print out a list of recipes you will make for the week, and make up a grocery list of those ingredients. Try cutting the recipes in 1/2 if they are big batch things. Then add in your other fruit and veggies for snacks, cereal and breads, milk and cheeses and your good to go.0
