So, go out and find a Malbec of your choice... take a picture of the bottle (or find one online). Drink it, and then post a little bit of what you thought about it.
Post by Saturday, March 9th. On Sunday we will pick a new varietal.

Ages ago, we had a Malbec and then a Shiraz challenge. I remember not liking one of them. But I cannot remember which.
I've been exclusively dating Mr. Mondavi lately....0 -
Red Rock (California) Malbec 2010 - It has been a few months since I had this, so it is hard to give much detail other than I don't have any notes in my wine app, which means it was decent because I usually only note extremes (good or bad).0 -
Malbec plus a square of Dove dark chocolate is one of my favorite combinations. I've enjoyed the ever-so-cheap Alamos0

Ok...we went out for dinner last night and had a Malbec. It was lovely. It was a Casillero del Diablo Malbec....which is described as below:
It concentrates sweet fruit and round tannins, blackberry and black plum bouquets with a black pepper and vanilla finish. While, in mouth some spices perfectly combine with black plums.
It came decanted...so no picture, but here's the website photo of the bottle. I've had really good luck with the Casillero's and so like the Pelee Island/Le Vieux Pin and Maso Campfiorin's this brand has become a "can't find anything interesting so I'll just have this" back up.
it's description is apt, the bouquet was fruity, it had a lovely deep-ish zing...that kind that sits on your tongue after the swallow.
I love a deep tannin that stains your glass and leaves behind notes after you've drunk it, and this definitely did that.

I'm cheap, but this was tasty. I'm no good at describing wines. I'll leave that to the snoots. But this was dry, not bitter, a touch spicy, warm...I got a nice buzz off it Wednesday night. I would drink this again. And that is quite possibly the best review I could give a wine...that I would buy it again and drink it.

First, I love this idea! Second, this is the first time I've had a Malbec... and I really liked it.
Tom the wine guy (at my local grocery store) recommended Tilia and I have to say it was quite delicious. Also, it was only $10. I don't know much about describing wines, so I'll just leave it to internet experts:Tilia Malbec has a dark, blackish purple color. The nose offers ripe black fruits, black pepper spice and floral notes. The mouthfeel is full yet soft and supple, with black raspberry and currant flavors mingled with notes of sweet spice and a touch of leather. The finish is long and persistent with soft, sweet tannins.

^Sounds exactly like something I would write.
Had this last night with grilled ribeyes. Went together perfectly.
