I am SOOO Tempted

It all started when my partner at work pulled out a grilled ham & cheese sandwich and some Ripple potato chips for breakfast. Then I went to another unit and the officer had a couple of pieces of pepperoni pizza sitting on his desk for a snack. As I was heading to my office to have my salad and rye cracker for lunch my supervisor reminded me of the retirement party that was going on. I had known the guy for the 18 years he had been at our institution so wanted to say goodbye. Unfortunately it was a Baked Potato Bar Potluck. There literally was not one thing there I could eat. I had tested reactive for baked potato, hadn't tested cow cheese and today I was testing Chickpeas so didn't know how I would do on the chili. I looked it all over, gave the guy a hug and wished him good luck, and went back to my office to have the crackers and salad I had brought.

Although I'm only on Day 8 I have been on The Plan for almost 3 weeks. I am temped to take a break and pig out. That grilled sandwich looked SOOOOOO good!

You did well! And even if you had indulged, you can always get back on track. The thing about taking a break from testing is it just sets your progress back. That's what's keeps me going. It's disappointing to be at a function where you basically can eat nothing! Same with restaurants. I was traveling on the weekend, and had to stop for food. There was only a McDonalds and it was getting late. I remembered they had an apple walnut salad. I figured their chicken would be too loaded with sodium and additives to be good so minus the chicken and dressing I figured I could make do. I actually ended up testing their fish bites which were supposed to be Alaskan wild caught pollock. I'd already tested ok on wheat so figured the breading wouldn't be a problem. With lemon wedges for my salad and the bites I managed to create a decent meal. Though I didn't lose probably due to sodium, importantly, I didn't gain! But that has not always been the case. I went away for a long weekend a few weeks ago and gained 6 lbs! it took me a week to get back on track and be able to start testing foods again. These experiences are important too. I find it's made me stronger in my resolve not to stray. I'm too excited by the progress Im making when I stick to it!

Hard to face a salad and rye cracker when everyone else is eating something yummy! Sounds like you stayed strong.

I have had a several of occasions where I got off track, going out to eat. I find that I either stay the same or gain 1 lb. It then takes me 2 days to start losing again.

It does slow down your progress to do this kind of thing, but I do appreciate having the flexibility to do it. That's one thing I wasn't really prepared for. Kind of thought that I would be just going 20 days straight. I've been on it for weeks and now am on Day 17. I get to do my "for real" restaurant test.
