Weights too heavy for back

I'm on the push circuit and doing 22 pounds for some of the exercises. Although the weights are use are fine for the body parts I'm using, I am now finding that my dodgy back can't cope. Any suggestions. Would I be better with bands for those exercises.

You can try the bands and see if that improves your back issues. You could also maybe for those moves use a lighter weight. After your workout really stretch your back muscles. One move that will help to strengthen your back is the 'Superman' move. You lay on your stomach with your hands to your sides and raise your head and chest off the floor. It will strengthen your back muscles and maybe make doing your workout easier for you. Hope this helps.0

Thanks. Ill give it a go. Really enjoying the programme and love increasing the weights so hopefully this will work. Thanks0

I had the same problem. In my opinion, it's way better to ease up on the weights to give your back a break than to try to push through. I also found that even on the lower body exercises where my legs could stand more weight, my arms and shoulders would fatigue just holding them. So you have to modify to accomodate what you can do and be mindful of your posture as much as possible. Find the stance that makes you feel strong, even if it looks a bit different from theirs.0

I've had the same problem so on those moves that hurt my back with heavier weights, I just go lighter and really focus on moving slowly and flexing the muscles I'm working on.
Chalene even says in one of the videos that it's not about the quantity of weight necessarily, it's how slowly you move and flexing the muscle as you lift and lower the weight.0 -
Thanks very much for your advice.0

I had a very hard time with some of the exercises, especially in the Burn phase, because they killed my back! Don't try to push through any exercise that hurts your back. Lighten the weights or stand up and take a break. Be super careful with your form, too.0
