How fast is the weight coming off?

Right now my carbs are roughly 70-100g a day, sometimes lower. The weight is slowwwly coming off. I was wondering if it would come off any faster if I lowered my carbs. I workout 5 days a week and try to keep my calories at 1200.

I'm not new to low carb, but very low carb...yes. I tried atkins years ago and did not have ANY energy whatsoever.

Can you please tell me what you do, how fast the weight is coming off (I have about 30lbs to lose) and what a typical menu for you is. I'm worried about not having any energy and I really don't want to eat a bunch of fatty unhealthy foods if I can avoid it.

Thanks again! Any advice or suggestions would be great.

  • Well as a person on a LCHF diet I try to keep my net carbs below 30 a day to make sure I stay in ketosis. I was low on energy the first couple of weeks but then BAM tons of energy and now the only time I have a low energy day is either due to low potassium or because I've eaten more carbs then I should. I averaged about 10lbs a month since mid June but it's slowed down as I've gotten closer to my goal weight. Feel free to add me if you want to see my diary etc.

I've been at it just over 4 week. The first two weeks I lost around 7 pounds total, and I think I'll hit the 10 pound mark tomorrow. It's definitely slower than in the beginning, but I'm ok with that.

I'm trying to stay under 30 net carbs a day, but I'm planning on increasing to 50 net daily soon.

    Feel free to friend me!

I'm losing about 15 pounds a month.. Started off doing South Beach and then quickly realized that didn't "feel right".. can't really explain it, but I felt really off.. did some research and learned that for low carb to work best, it should be high fat, so I switched to more primal/paleo eating.. still fully making the transition and learning how to make it work best for me. trying to decide currently about how fruit and dairy each effect my weight loss.. very interesting! But I love learning about nutrition and I am convinced there is NOT a one-size-fits-all plan.. even how some people say it comes down to calories in-calories out.. I don't really buy that anymore either. :) a calorie is not just a calorie.. it depends on what kind of calorie it is.

for the record, I have my carbs hovering between 35-50g a day... I will be trying to go lower starting next week.

1200 calories isn't enough. Are you eating them back at all from exercising? I stall or slowly lose weight at 1250 calories or less. I eat around 1400 calories and eat back most of what I exercise. My carbs are around 50 net carbs daily. Some days are less, some days are a little more. My protein is around 50% of my diet. I lose 1-2lb a week of fat without exercising. 3lbs if I exercise regularly.

Oh, I almost forgot. You can friend me to view my diary. And I second that there's not a one size fits all diet. Experiment and find what's right for you. :-)
